Take a look at this photograph from the early 20th century. It has not been retouched, nor is it a double exposure. It looks like a big face has been plopped into the middle of it, an example of pareidolia {wiki}, the tendency for human brains to interpret patterns as meaningful, like seeing a face when there is no face. I didn't mean to be snarky.
My point was that while many of the reported "apparitions" of Jesus or Mary (like the cheese sandwich or "cheesus") just look like a blob, or sometimes a figure or face (but not really that of Jesus of Mary), the "face" here really does look like Jesus! Well Jesus as the Vatican portrays him anyway.
