What Is It? Game 136

Time sure flies when you're having fun (or if you have 3 kids like me). Would you believe it?! It's time for our weekly collaboration with the always-awesome What Is It? Blog.

Can you guess what the gruesome tool above is used for? The first correct guess and the funniest albeit wrong guess will win T-Shirts from the NeatoShop.

Write your guess in the comment section. One guess per comment, please, though you can enter as many as you'd like. Write no URL or web link - doing so will invalidate your entry. You have until the answer is revealed at the What Is It? Blog.

IMPORTANT: Please write your selection of T-shirt alongside your guess. Be sure to visit the Science T-Shirt and Funny T-Shirt sections of the NeatoShop.

For more clues, check out the What Is It? Blog. Good luck!

Update 4/30/10 - the answer is: A steak tenderizer and cleaver. Congratulations to Jerry Kelly who got it right first and to das who made me chuckle with the Chinese multi-purpose shovel reference.

well it is obviously the HUMUNGUSTAR crafted by the twelve gods of the mountains from PURE LIGHTINING and SOME OLD WOOD as a present to their favorite hero in his eternal battle agains the damn wood elves.

One side is to cut their trees and the other is to smash their skulls (it makes a funny squish sound).

I think that it is an ax used to bust open and process cocoanuts. The blade end splits the cocoanut into two, and the cylinder end is twisted into each opened half to shred the cocoanut.

You've all missed it. This is a Viking close-combat battle axe. You chop the castellated back of this tool against your opponent's head or chest to leave a target mark/imprint. Quickly turn it around and take aim. Those guys got their cut in nice and central every time!
Evolution XL please.

This is a Croquet mallet used before modern rules were conceived. The idea was to hit your ball towards the wicket, then throw the axe at the peg before your ball stops rolling. The problem was drunken Croquet led to to many axe injuries, otherwise we would still be playing by those rules today. Of course we all know that drunken Croquet is the only way to play, so the new rules are probably better for all.

Wind up key for the Mega Medieval Zombie Barbie-bot ®. Actually, I have no idea what it is, but it is evil and I want one instead of a t-shirt.

Before they hit students with rulers, nuns used this to punish troublemakers. It was very effective, but some of the parents complained.

Its the early prototype from the video posted by minnesotastan. The Multi-Function folding shovel. Unfortunately, this one didnt do nearly enough cool stuff so the manufacturer had to scrap the project. This is an extremely rare find as only 2 prototypes where ever made.
