Pet Tortoise Comes When Called

Taco the pet tortoise lives in an outdoor burrow. When his humans call him, he (she?) comes out and crawls into their hands. That’s a well-trained tortoise!

Funny how Women (wives) always make Men (husbands) do things and sound very gay.
Come on Taco
Bwhahahaha
That was just too adorable!!! OMG I want a teeny tiny little tortoise!!
But I think our dogs and cat would munch on it, or the various birds of prey that frequent this area. SIGH.
I think s/he just doesn’t like people yelling his/her name after using a flashlight into his/her home. Walks out to give people a piece of her/his mind.
Let’s hope Rocky the Racoon doesn’t eat Taco the Tortoise in his outdoor burrow.
im not sure how that’s really evidence of a tortoise responding to voice. tortoises have very limited hearing. one of my tortoises likes to follow people(and other pets) around the yard but if he doesn’t see you, he won’t come in your direction. shining a flashlight down into his burrow would sure do the trick.
We have a yellow-eared slider, about four years old, who comes when we call him by name (when he’s out of the aquarium walking around on the floor). However, he doesn’t really understand gravity yet, so maybe it’s a give-and-take.
Having “Taco” trained to follow commands will become handy when he learns to fly, grows to 300 feet tall and starts breathing fire.
