What Is It? Game 135

Yay! Let's play this week's guessing game in collaboration with the What Is It? Blog. Can you tell us what the strange contraption to the left is for?

Place your guess in the comment section. One guess per comment, please, though you can enter as many comments as you'd like. Let others play - post no URL or web links (doing so will invalidate your entry). You have until the answer is revealed at the What Is It? Blog sometime tomorrow.

The first correct guess and the funniest albeit incorrect guess will win Science T-Shirts or Funny T-Shirts and One-Liners from the NeatoShop. IMPORTANT: Write your selection of T-shirt alongside your guess.

For more clues, be sure to check out the What Is It? Blog. Good luck!

Update 4/26/10 - the answer is: A grain auger that was used to move flour in an enclosed chute at a mill, as seen on this site. Congratulations to galen who got it right first, and to Nicholas B for the early version of Blendtec's Will It Blend blender!

It's one of those toy marble towers. You know, the ones where you put a marble on top and when it goes down, the sound of it hitting the wood slots is a steady plink-plink sound. Tons of "fun".
