The Baboon's Secret

(YouTube link)

You may think the baboon is not too smart because it fell for that old trick, but at least it knows where the water is! From the 1974 documentary Animals Are Beautiful People. -via Cynical-C

That's a pretty docile baboon. I'd imagine they're awfully bitey when somebody captures one, unless they were "capturing" a trained one. Though I think fakery in nature shows is becoming less popular, it used to be the norm. (I also don't buy that there was some secret underground lake that nobody knew about except the baboons).

Obviously fake.

For one Baboons are fearsome creature but this one barley put up a fight when captured. I am pretty sure it is a trained baboon.

Second the camera angles during the chase were all to perfect, a sure sign of staging.

I used to watch this movie at my grandparents house circa 1988 when I was growing up in Cape Town. Thank you so much Neatorama. Shed a tear for once was but can never be again.

Ya, this is from the film "The Gods Must be Crazy", or it's sequel. If not quite "educational", it's still a wonderful flick. Did you know that rhinos always stamp out campfires at night? Also, there is a kind of thorn tree that does a great job of undressing attractive ladies. Nature is amazing!
