Live feed from inside an owl box! This is the first year that an owl has made it a home. Molly laid 5 eggs in Feb, one died and one has hatched. 4 more will hatch this week live on camera.

Molly laid 6 eggs, ate the first (it was “bad”), one hatched and another is in the process of hatching. Three left. One will hatch about every 2 days.

Awww, just saw the little nekkid bebeh owl….. and now the moma is asleep once again lol. I’ll have to check back tonight to see if she’s more active!

I think owls are pretty neat, but around here, they have a nasty habit of killing cats.
Granted, I deal with this by never letting my cats out unsupervised, but I know a lot of people who lost beloved pets to winged death. I don’t wish any ill will on owls, of course. They’re just doing what they do (eliminating competition for those pesky field mice).

Just like that hawk that raided our birdhouse when I was living with my parents and destroyed all the finch eggs. The finches never did come back to our birdhouse. Hawk was just doing what hawks do, but it was still very sad for us.
