Paradoxymoron

By Miss Cellania in Art on Mar 1, 2010 at 1:55 pm

Why would someone post a video of a painting? Because you need to see it in three dimensions to get the full effect.

This is a movie of a super-cool “painting” hanging in the basement of the British Library, in London. The author has done many such paintings, but this is the best (and all the others are very similar). It’s called “Paradoxymoron”, by Patrick Hughes

Holy crap. The painting apparently gives you the shivers in person. The work of that caffeine-addled cameraman left me nauseous.

Video failed to playback for me. YouTube has a clip, too (probably lower quality, but you can see what’s going on)

Something similar is in a museum in Glasgow, right along one of the walls. It is awesome to see it from the different angles. :)

We generally call such art ‘sculptures’, not paintings, even if they hang on a wall. :P
