Cat Owners Are More Educated Than Dog Owners

By Alex in Animals & Pets on Feb 6, 2010 at 12:58 pm

Here’s a study that will surely pour more gasoline into the debate of dog vs cat: turns out that cat owners are more likely to have college degrees than dog owners.

A poll of 2,524 households found that 47.2% of those with a cat had at least one person educated to degree level, compared with 38.4% of homes with dogs.

The study said longer hours, possibly associated with better qualified jobs, may make owning a dog impractical.

Believe what you will, but the study authors made one big error: cats don’t have owners. They have staff ;)

That’s so funny about the *cat staff* because that’s exactly what I was thinking. I’m educated and I have 3 cats. And, it’s true; I like dogs, but my work schedule prohibits properly taking care of a dog.

As someone on Radio 4 said, since it was a phone poll, it may just mean that dog owners are more likely to have ex-directory phone numbers.

Dogs don’t have owners either – they have masters.. I don’t feel the need to dominate something in my life ;)

They have staff and they require resumes and references.

Could it be that people who finish college are used to being ignored and not cared about? I am a dog owner and have a college degree. . . I would never want something that just takes the food I feed it, shits in a box in my house, then ignores me to top it all off.

Of course, those of us with both are the smartest of all …

I offer a service for people who can’t own a dog but want to enjoy all the benefits of one. For $30, I will show up once a month with a wheelbarrow full of feces and dump it around your backyard. Premium service includes sitting in your yard and screaming to the top of my lungs until the neighbors call the city.

The dogs help out. We don’t need a university degree.

Wow sky. My cat wants nothing more than to purr on my lap and stare at me beatifically. Heck, she even plays fetch. It’s adorable to watch her standing there, huffing, holding a toy in her mouth and waiting for me to reach out for it so she can drop it into my hand. Then to see her tense as her gaze fixes on it, waiting for me to throw it.

Why the cat hate? I don’t hate dogs. I just don’t get it.

Also don’t follow the link in this name. I think there’s some kind of virus at work on this on computer.

I have a degree and a bird (a cockateil who loves to cuddle), wonder what that means?
