My cat Isis does something similar. She fetches a leather glove, which she also carries from room to room sometimes, chirping/prrping as she goes.

We had a midget cat named Smidgen whose favorite toy was a taxidermist’s cast-off coyote leg & paw, which she carried as Maru does, and yowled while doing so.
