Vintage Ad Browser

By Miss Cellania in Advertising, Pictures on Jan 4, 2010 at 12:20 pm

Find hundreds of ads going up to a couple hundred years back with the Vintage Ad Browser. I spent a lot of time looking around, but kept coming back to this perfume ad from 1890. The picture has nothing to do with the product, but it doesn’t matter, since everyone loves babies and dogs, right? Link -via the Presurfer

Nice… wife does a lot of grad college work using old advertising and such – she’ll appreciate this (if she did not know about it already).

I have air fresheners right now with babies and dogs featured on the bottle. Perhaps the picture is a subtle markerting message that the perfume would replace disagreeable odors with loveliness, while not really beating up on the adorable baby and puppy you would prefer to keep.

Then again, “Rubifoam” seems to have been a dentrifice, so maybe not.

Dogs, yes. Babies, take ‘em or leave ‘em.
