beer-yeast dies (of its own waste product, alcohol)
when it hits around 11-13 %

So anything above has added alcohol or is brewed in a different way, so technically should not be called “beer” anymore…

but who cares, I want some!

I’ve gone as high as 20% with Dogfish Head’s 120 Minute IPA and World Wide Stout. They’re pretty tasty, although the IPA needs some time to age or else it’s just too harsh.

I’ve tried some of the other brews from BrewDog, and they do make some decent beers. Their Punk IPA is recommended.

Can it be called “beer” anymore?

When you see a “beer” that is about 15% or more, people usually call it Barley Wine.

32% is just plain liquor.

Why a beer almost as strong as whisky? You might as well ask why produce a whisky a strong as whisky. There’s nothing magic about one particular drink that says it has to be stronger or weaker than another.
