DRob, that Michigan deposit refund is such a good motivator, that folks from Ohio come in to collect refunds — on bottles and cans not bought in Michigan. Michigan loses millions of dollars every year because of it.

We have those aswell (In Sweden, where the video is from). Where you get money for soda bottles and beer cans.

The one in the video is a recycling station for glass bottles.

In Michigan, we have a $.10 bottle deposit on pop and beer bottles and cans. Some grocery stores have machines that look like this that you feed the bottles into and you get a receipt that you can trade in for real money. That’s a big motivator as well.

ok as an American citizen I’m going to guess how long it will take for a bunch of saggy pants kids to get bored and start trying to score from across the street.
Of course scoring means throwing ANYTHING bottle size in the holes using a baseball bat, hockey stick or a good swift kick. (BTW 12sec) (sound bitter? I used to watch kids plant both feet on the coin return buttons of a Galaga Arcade Game just to get a freebie)

As an occupational therapist I can’t say I’m to surprised; this is what occupational therapy is based on. Using activities that engage the mind proves to be much more effective than those that don’t.
