I just re-read my post and realize I sound like an ass hat. I apologize for being rude to you Alex. I see you weren’t trying to make up or post a completely false quote, because my dad just told me he heard that the statement you posted is true. Once again, I’m sorry. I am just sad because my girlfriend broke up with me for another girl and I realized I probably will never have a woman in my life again. I know now that I shouldn’t try and be a piece of shit because my life sucks and yours doesn’t. I don’t know if we live near each other, but I’d be glad to suck you off to make up for me being such a loser.

The fact that you simply make up, or at least post a completely false quote by Al Gore (which anyone can see just by watching the actual interview or reading snopes, etc) leaves me to question the accuracy of anything you post (though I do know some of them to be true just from past knowledge). Quit with the nonsense about Al Gore claiming he created the internet, he never made that claim and at the end of the day his claim about how he made major contributions to help expand it are completely true as even the actual “creators” of the internet (or at least TCP/IP) like Vincent Cerf attest to. But no, let Alex the blogger pretend to know more about this than Vincent Cerf.

Al Gore and the Internet.

His exact words were:

During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country’s economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system.

It will always be political. Democrats will alway say that he didn’t “MEAN” to say that he invented the Internet; that he was responsible for fostering the development of the technology we know today as the Internet (per snopes). He was tired. he misspoke. WHATEVER.

Republicans will always take his words LITERALLY in which he DID say “I took the initiative in creating the Internet.” Taken LITERALLY, he claims to have invented the Internet.

Al Gore and the InterWeb. You guys should be able to take it as a joke by now.

That Gore claimed to have “invented the Internet” was a false story circulated by the Republican National Committee during the presidential campaign. It was eagerly picked up by the media and used time and again to mock Gore, along with many other false stories.

It’s hard to know just how many votes he lost because of these stories. But I’m sure we all remember who ended up winning the election, and many of us don’t find a lot of humor in what happened to the country as a result.

I was disappointed when I read that Intel didn’t use the real Ajay Bhatt in their USB commercial. Sure, not many people will ever realize it. But the people who do realize could easily think that using an actor instead of a real geek when you’re trying celebrate your love of geek accomplishments is self-defeating for Intel. You may want to clarify the article to mention it’s an actor.

Bonnie, Al did secure the funding that lead to the creation of the internet – whether he claimed it or not. Ask Vint Cerf, the creator of TCP/IP and he’ll tell you that.

Also NPR has had up a story on how a classroom full of children were ignored when they countered the claim.

best thing about that dell ad is that it doesn’t feature the actual inventor of the USB, it’s an actor. Conan O’Brien does a hilarious interview with the real guy and has him re-enact the ad.
