This is one guy’s opinion. And while I might, agree with a lot of it, it might be more useful to get the whole list of every board game ever, top to bottom, aggregated by a large group of people, in which you can find 5583 games ranked better than Monopoly: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/browse/boardgame
Love Settlers of Catan, and I’m a recent newbie with Dominion. Apples to Apples is always fun with any age group that has basic knowledge of pop culture.
These are some great suggestions!
Apples to Apples is great. I still laugh when I think about the time I was playing with my sisters and mom and cousins. My mom was the judge and she picked “charging rhinos” as the best answer for “sexy”. Because of the horns.
RoboRally is a fun game, it’s based off those championships where guys build robots to trash each others. If you want a really good horror based board game, look up Betrayal at House on the Hill. The outcome is different each game since the board is made of tiles, and one of the players becomes a traitor where he is set against the rest of the gamers.
Ah, I suck at the Settlers of Catan. When I play it, it’s more like the Sucker of Catan.
I have ‘Last Night on Earth’ and I love it!!! so does my 6 year old. She’s a good zombie killer.
As the owner of about 90 board/card games, I can say such a list is almost impossible to make (highly subjective). Oddly, I do not own some of the games on that list.
I would recommend boardgamegeek.com if anyone is interested in trying to learn more about what is out there and building their own list.
I definitley agree with Pandemic and Settlers of Catan! And while I wouldn’t put Agricola near the top, my husband would call it number 1 or 2.
I’ll second Betrayal at House on the Hill. That game is amazingly fun especially because the second half of the game is always completely different.
I am amazed that Diplomacy did not make the list. This game is social and strategic at the same time, a rare combination.
To Drew: Considering the bulk of games on this list are party games, I’m not surprised they left of Diplomacy, a game known for ending friendships.
