60 Iconic and Classic Cars

Posted by Queuebot in Car & Vehicle on October 20, 2009 at 6:36 pm

Ok we’ve all seen cars lists before but this one has quite a few I’ve never seen before. The three-wheeled Robin, the futuristic Loremo and stout scarab? Weird stuff! Other are quite familiar, like the 1957 Corvette pictured.

During this time cars have had some radical design changes; some for the better and some for the worse. Here are our top pics for the 60 most distinctive and iconic, classic cars, and while you may not like them all – they are memorable.

Cool to see all my favorites on there, and I very much want a Tesla now. But why were some holdovers from the Ugliest Car list? Pacer? Gremlin? Minivan? Kind of surprising.

I'm surprised the 1936 Cord Model 810 convertible coupe didn't make the list. See one here: http://tomstrongman.com/ClassicCars/PaulBryant810/
Cord innovations included front wheel drive and retractable headlights.

Any such list is just a product of those who wrote it and their experiences with automobiles.
A few errors though, one of the most glaring being the photo of a new Ford GT in place of an actual vintage Ford GT40.

The "S" type Jaguar in the pic is in fact an "E" type.

What--no love for the Tucker ?? How could a list of "iconic" cars be missing that one ?

intersting that they chose the 57 Corvette. The 58 stands out more for that body style, and the 63 was the first without a fixed rear axel.

Hollywood made many of these cars famous too. If that's the case, why not put the '69 Lincoln Continental there?

Hey no Mclaren, no Saab, no Fiat, no BMW CS3.0 and indeed, no Tucker too...

I can't believe the GTO isn't on there.

No Toyota Corolla, the choice of most of us?
