Vampires, werewolves, and zombies overdone? Come on. They're genre. It's horror and horror fans love it.

I for one think this is one of the best wedding cakes I've seen and for my second wedding, I may just steal the concept.

It's the people who try to be different that cling to the latest and greatest who are really the fakes. Some of us just really do appreciate horror and hey, I was born on Halloween, this cake appeals to me for oh so many reasons.

I agree that zombies are a bit overdone now. I wonder if this will become a new wedding cake trend.

Ah sorry Frau and others here- I come from a region in the world where Halloween is not celebrated. -Yet.

With the ongoing Americanisation of our culture I foresee that in a few years it will be just as great over here as it seems to be in the U.S. itself...

@ Kathy - the cake is edible. The "icing" on it is called rolled fondant. Nice and sugary.

@ Foreginer - It would take a lengthy post to explain why I like to be scared. It is like going to a suspenseful movie. You know that the way a scene is unfolding, that something is about to happen. When it does, you get a jump. That little jump had a bit of adrenaline in it.
Even though you knew that the scary bit was coming - your brain disregarded it, yet you still jumped. So there is a little humor in it as well.

Being scared also tells me that my brain is still working, and that I still have emotion.

@Frau-
I don't understand- Why would you want to get scared?

I've been in war. I was scared to death for several weeks at a time. I saw and felt those things firsthand. And I really don't understand why you would like that...?

Like you say- To each his or her own

Hey, I liked the cake. It seemed original to me. It's just that zombies are so cliché. Plus all the movies lately seem to be teenage-girl-oriented vampire movies. Gak.

I would be turned off if they dressed up like zombies for the wedding - that would be over the top. That would be obsessive.

We need a new monster - and not Transformers.

I agree with Ted. Zombies and steampunk currently make me want to slap the poor retard who thinks they're being somehow novel or "original". Same for vampires and werewolves... ugh run into the ground.

I'm still convinced that a chainsaw is a terrible anti-zombie weapon. You have to get too close to the zombies, you can run out of gas, it's heavy, and it sprays zombie blood all over you - instant infection.

note to self - start writing zombie steampunk screenplay to bug Tim, Ted and Foreigner.

People create wedding cakes these days to show their share of an interest in something. Something a little different than the standard stodgy bride and groom on the cake. I think it is nice that they also included their attendants on that cake.

I have always had a fascination in the scary horror stuff. I have always enjoyed Grimm's tales. For tales to exist there must be some kernel of truth. Actual "zombies" have existed in caribean islands. But these were not reanimated dead persons. But persons who were given a poison which made it appears as though they were dead. Someone took that idea and switched it up a bit, and then you eventually have the George Romero type zombies, which are reanimated corpses.

I am not sure where you get torture and sadism from reanimated corpses - but I'll just put that into my screenplay, and you can complain that I misquoted you when it is a movie.
The use of chainsaws in horror movies is an element of fear.
If someone were to come at you with a butter knife - you are not going to be to scared. But with a chainsaw - there is some chance you are going to jump.
And a chainsaw in a horror movie is not always a bad thing. Sometimes it is the weapon of the hero, to defend themselves.

I like zombies. (Call me a fruitcake) They are usually prevalent this time of year, because it is closer to Halloween. I like to be scared, and I like to do some scaring.

And not every movie coming out is zombie themed. You only notice one when it comes out, because no one is raving about that chick flick that you went to see last week.

People like to be scared. If people did not like to be scared, there would be no trinity of horror icons. No Frankenstein, Wolfman, or Dracula.

To each his own.

Gauldar I don't find this cake offending in any way, shape or form. I don't see why it should be offending? I just find it sick. I find this fascination of people for horror, bloody chainsaw-things and torture and sadism and alikes weird, distorted, screwed up. That is different. But offensive? No. Not in the least.

Wow, of all people I did not expect you to be offended by this cake. I guess I trivialize the idea of weddings, but there are people who think of these as once in a life time opportunities to get attention. I do feel it's a lot more original then those jedi weddings too.

Completely sick, this cake.

Not shocking or whatever- Just Mentally Sick.

I think you gotta be a bit of a fruitcake to even like zombieovies and that sort of "horror". But this wedding cake But ... why would you even want to have such a thing on your ... wedding day...? To me that sounds like that person would need a series of serious talks with a friendly person in a white coat....

Yeah, I'm filled to the brim with zombies. Every movie coming out is zombie themed it seems.
Also "steam Punk". Gahhhhh! Now Disney is in the act with an animated punk themed movie and a vid game.
The Cakes are cool, but I'll eat your brains if i see a zombie theme again.
