I’m sad to say that I actually enjoyed these: a list of 10 awesomely terrible one-hit wonders of the 90′s over at Karaoke Lounge blog.

How can anyone not groove to OMC’s How Bizarre, Chumbawamba’s Tubthumping and Right Said Fred’s I’m Too Sexy? Certainly brings back memories … ah, good times!

Ha, I remember many of these all too well. I didn’t listen to popular music until I was in high school so I missed hearing any of these on the radio, but my friends in school would always be singing them >_>

Humbolt County Green is the only “one hit wonder” that I care about. :P

How Bizarre is actualy a pretty good One-hit wonder along with The Proclaimers – 500 miles as another favorite of mine.

Yeah, I find this a mixed bag of “awesome” and “awesomely fun” and “awesomely terrible” songs. I’ve always loved the 4 Non Blondes song, but never knew it was titled “What’s Up”. In fact, I don’t think I’d ever even seen the band, but Linda Perry kinda looks like what I might have imagined. “How Bizarre” is more of an awesomely fun song, I think.

OMC and Pauly Fuemana in my mind for years have stood as models for typical “New Zealand thugs”. But that song actually is one of my all-time favorites. :-)

Jimmy Ray had a clip that just was waaaaayyyy too childish….

I can remember that that Divinyls-song was nearly banned where I lived at that time- Sooo Shocking for the young folks to hear!!! :-)

Chumbawamba- I always thought that they wrote one of Australia’s National Anthems…?

:?: That Macarena clip- We always wondered if that one dark lady really was a man at one stage of her life…? :-D

 About Right Said Fred we always thought that this was something that had come up during endless sessions on the torure-machines in the Gym where these guys must have trained. Just sheer boredom and lots of time jabbing and making jokes must have brought them to this song and at some point to a moment where Fred said Right let’s just do it- maybe it even works!

Ahhh Bitch!!! That was The Song of my back-then-best-girl-friend. …Drove me just Mád!!! Since then the relation cooled down pretty much to nil- endlessly this song was just too much. But nice song though.

That Morrison-guy of The Mack had a funny way of using his voice.

The 4 Non Blondes over here stood a bit for a sort of semi-return of Hippy-times. Sort of like Neo-Hippydom.

    Ini Kamoze to me is not a 1-hit-wonder. …But that’s just me… :-)

    Nice…! Very nice!
“Awesomely terrible” is just Way-Off the mark. That’s all. :-D

Anyone who’s a fan of “What’s Up?” by Four Non-Blondes really needs to listen to the He-Man cover:

I laugh myself silly every time I watch this!

Have to agree, these were some really terrible songs. I had forgotten about many of them. Did give me a serious 90s flashback though!

Chumbawamba was never a one hit wonder, they’ve had quite a few hits.
