It's not that people want instant gratification. I personally LOVE the way polariods look. The focus on the subject is so perfect. The discoloration just adds to the vintage effect.

I remember my Dad's old Polaroid camera. It was a ton of fun to use and indeed the instant gratification from having in your hand a picture you just took was something that grabbed people.

Hi all,
Indeed, the experience of having instantly a real photo, is not the same as an instant result.
And despite those sometimes spooky coloring rendering, and the chemicals embedded inside them, I have old polaroids that are aging well.

They were pricey, yes, but as a result you shot things more carefully.

Until they release again or no the support, you can play with this very convicing soft:
http://www.poladroid.net/download.html

Free and available for Mac & PC.

@D Bozko: The experience of having a physical, tactile photo in your hand as soon as you take the picture is different, and some prefer it. I like it a lot myself, though not enough to pay $2/shot.

Why? The idea behind instant photography is instant gratification. Don't we get that from digital now? Besides an instant picture is a done deal while digital has infinite possibilities.

These are going to be very expensive. $2+ per picture and they are already admitting the color is going to be "off". Interestingly Polaroid has commented that they are looking into and planning on bringing back polaroid film themselves.

Fuji makes a lot better (in my opinion) large format instant film. I wish they would make a 600 type film for the later model polaroid cameras.
