I just realized… this cart is STOLEN! We gotta return it! Thats just wrong!

Lol.. yeahhhh.

The target audience of the “shopping cart chair” is usually a bunch of teens/college kids who already engage in several fairly innocent “Illegal” activities just trying to cope with always being broke.
Ie underage drinking, weed smoking party types.
They aren’t going to care that the cart is stolen.

Yep Alex obviously most people dont own there carts. However ethics is something sadly lacking in people. They think its ok to steal as long as they don’t get caught. No one is going out and buying an expensive shopping cart to make into a chair. Even finding “abandon” ones doesn’t make you the new owner.

Though you can often grab a few when supermarkets go bust.

And there are feral trolleys – if they’ve been in a canal for a couple of years the supermarket probably doesn’t really want it back. At one point a firm I worked for had standing orders to filch the castors off feral trolleys so I could put them on giant furniture trolleys to double up on floorspace.

Right, Alex. Unless one buys a shopping cart, or receives one that was purchased as a present, it legally belongs to some store. Even pulling off the store’s name does not make it legal to vandalize and play with.

My roomates and I totally had/made one of these when I was going to college. The one we had ended up a tad long, so it wasn’t the most comfortable seat in the house… but comsidering we didn’t have much furniture at all, it was better than nothing.
