Group Rope Jumping

No, not Double-Dutch, and not quite Bungee jumping.  The kids these days and their fads- EnglishRussia has an interesting series of pictures of the group rope-jumping craze sweeping the country.

As illustrated above, a group simultaneously jumps from a bridge (as a train bears down on them), clinging to ropes that swing them up towards the other side.  No details on what kind of injuries this involves, but the line tangles don’t look encouraging.

This sort of followed bungee jumping in the states about a decade ago but died out just as fast

There’s a video of a group whose rig breaks and they fly into the water that gets shown on all those “extreme video” shows. I think there was a broken back and some internal injuries.

It probably did not get popular in the US because the second that you did it the police would be all over you. And it does not look all that fun other than the sheer number of people.

As they’re all probably 5 to 10 feet away from each other on the bridge, tabgles wouldn’t be a concern. And you couldn’t hit the underside of thr bridge thanks to the ole’ Law of Conservation of Energy. But getting down might be a pain.

Ah, dupes happen. I posted a lot of them myself, but thank you for bringing the issue of lijit up – I’ll email them to see why “group bridge jumping” didn’t bring up the post.

Update: actually it did – I don’t know what happened there at first …
