I understand that some of what Bill wrote and supported might have been evil; but please it would be nice if people like Rick remembered that Bill has a family. A family that has to grieve and deal with his death. You are disrespectful and juvenile.

I always thought his most famous contributions to speechwriting were pretty juvenile stuff, really.

Alliteration? I got over my affection for that before then end of fifth grade.

Hearing someone actually speak some of his phrases out loud as if they were serious has always reduced my opinion of the speaker.

William Safire was a warmongering bloodthirsty psychopath who enjoyed watching bombs drop on women and children. If there is a God, guess where he is right now.

I see how all the rules breaks itself except for "Verbs have to agree with their subjects." In order for that rule to break itself, wouldn't it need to be something like "Every one of the verbs have to agree with their subjects."? It's driving me crazy.

Very tongue in cheek rules, but all of them are exactly what I've heard for years. Very solid advice... especially since each is an example of what should be avoided!

One out of Two James agree!

Did you happen to read any of the other rules?

Quite.

James, every sentence quoted voids its own rule. And Alex, please fix "stripped" in the new species article. It should be spelled, "striped".

"The passive voice should never be used."

Ironic considering the sentence itself is thereby outlawed.

It should therefore read, "Never use the passive voice."

It's a crap rule anyway...
