The 20 Greatest Cartoons Of The 1990′s

By Queuebot in Comics & Cartoons on Sep 23, 2009 at 11:45 pm

A look back at what should be viewed as the second golden age of cartoons, the 90′s, including TaleSpin:

Using characters adapted from the 1967 movie The Jungle Book, Talespin was set in the town of Cape Suzette. The show featured a main character named Baloo the Bear who is out of work until he lands a job as a pilot. An orphan boy and former air pirate, Kit Cloudkicker, attaches to Baloo and becomes his navigator. The pair share their adventures as Baloo becomes a permanent fixture in the child’s life.

F-ing family guy?!?! This thing just inexplicably grows in popularity. And no love for Batman: The Animated Series?

Pretty good list. I agree that BTAS should not only be on the list but probably should be #1

family guy and futurama could of been left off the list since they weren’t popular in the 90′s….

Lost all credibility putting family guy on the list at any position.

I agree, Batman: The Animated Series had excellent story lines and voice acting cast that is rarely found in a cartoon meant for kids. I’d imagine it had quite a large budget to support it, but it was damn good. I like how they brought as much of the original cast together for the Batman: Arkham Asylum game that recently came out. You can’t find a better person to voice the Joker then Mark Hamil! It’s worth renting if you have a game system. I also think that Pinky and the Brain should have been combined with Animaniacs on the list.

Seriously? Daria wouldn’t make the top 100. My favorite that they left out was the lesser known Spielberg installment – Freakazoid!

Would also argue that shows that had one year of their multi-year run in the ’90s doesn’t make it a ’90s cartoon (SBSP, FG, Futu, etc.)

Wow, some of those took me back. I used to LOOOOVE Tailspin, Pinky & the Brain, etc etc.

I think they needed to hone in a more specific topic – all of those shows seem to cover a broad range of audiences and styles.

    But really, where is Gargoyles?!

This list is crap, no Batman:The Animated Series? WTF.

Also, shows that started in 1999 and ran mostly in the 2000′s shouldn’t count.

Where is Hey Arnold(!)? Where is Gargoyles? Where is Freakazoid?

Plus, the inclusion of Family Guy makes the list an automatic failure.

yeah, leaving off the batman series was all wrong. even that superman series was better than some of these… that superman darkseid showdown was awesome… they actually put in characters that could kick supermans ass instead of just giving him cryptonite… rant:: thats whats been wrong with the superman movies. he’s an alien, but they keep giving him earthly problems to deal with… except for one movie.. and we all know that was the best one…
