Suprised by the inappropriate language in the title. It is odd to see that at Neatorama. Not surprised that it's from Cracked, since half the articles are usually swears.

There are in fact several species of chameleons that do change their colors to blend in with the environment.

In fact there are a bunch of other animals who do change their color to blend in with their environment like certain species of octopus.

While everything else on their list seems to check out, I am surprised that cracked.com didn't even bother to do the most basic of research on their number one pick.

@baro:
I think that picture is from the movie "Dude Where's my Car?".

This was a fun article (especially loved the Piranah story). I could spend days on Cracked.

I had a veiled chameleon for a roommate for several years until he passed away. That species of chameleon changed their color only for mood and temperature not for camouflage. There may well be other species that can change color for camouflage but I’m not aware of them.

Also, the ostrich-emu picture has teeth. That's obviously photoshopped, as birds do not have teeth as far as I know. They just searched ostrich in google images.

Cracked's articles are seldom well-researched. Even when large and obvious mistakes are pointed out by many commenters, they will actually defend the mistakes, no matter how glaring, as "license" or as unintentionally humourous.

We had better get used to it. Looks like there is more to come. I was a bit surprised as well. Neatorama does not have to go this route.

Nice article, but not very well researched.

- The chameleon claim is wrong. They do change color according to their environment (I've seen it several times in real life). That doesn't necessarily mean, that they don't communicate emotion in that way as well.

- Second: The picture shows an emu not an ostrich.

- Third: The bumblebee-picture actually shows bees, which are even harder to confuse that emus an ostriches.

I'm in awe of Cracked - they've managed to grow extremely large in a very, very short period of time.

While I agree that Cracked's articles are usually interesting, they ARE Cracked's. This makes quite a few that the queuebot has let through. Not to mention I didn't neatorama was the type of site to use the word "bullshit".
