As a Red Sox fan, I have to say…
Hooray for the Yankees.
Oh dear, I said it. *hides from The Nation*
It is nice to see such a positive story. How fabulous for those children to see a major league team and also meet the players. Kudos to Jason Zillo for organizing such a wonderful event.
OK, now back to my regularly scheduled resentment.
I can’t even begin to express how cool this is.
As someone who is also very sensitive to the sun (but not anywhere near as much as these kids) AND a former camp program director, I’ve always had kind of a fantasy to have a night-time only camp. I’m really glad to see that someone actually started one!
My wife and I were at this game. She was a trooper considering she’s not a baseball fan, we got at six, the rain prevented the game from starting until 9:45 and we hung around the entire game.
I think she took her frustration out on the kids. The loudspeaker mentioned them a few times over the course of the game, particularly how none of them had ever been to a ballgame before. My wife was pretty ticked off about this, thinking the kids’ parents could have brought them to any old night game.
It took this article to finally calm her down on that point. (Usually she’s a very nice person, so I blame the 6.5 hours at Yankee Stadium for this outburst.)
That is great. I’m happy for those kids. It makes me feel good to see that baseball can make dreams come true. I hope this site can do the same even if it is just for a few kids who love baseball Making dreams come true through the game of baseball. Thanks
