How can anyone have anything snarky to say about any of the people in this video? What I saw was a crowd of people wanting very badly to save the lives of strangers.

The firemen did it because they KNEW what to do, and were fittest to perfom, but I believe, from watching this video, that any one of those people, any one of YOU, would have tried their hardest to do what the firemen did if there were no one else. They weren't fat loud stupid losers. They were scared and wanting to help.

This video is a praise of humanity.

Wow, a lot of people on the scene apparently thought "helping" meant wandering around to get a better look and shouting "Call 911! Save him!"

This is why heroes get our respect. They don't stand around waving their hands helplessly, shouting for somebody to help. They take action immediately.

Im guessing that they are all neighbours and know who the firefighters are. Also I think I heard them telling people to get back a couple times. Im sure a lot of those running around pointlessly wanted to help but werent sure what to do.

We're only human.

It's an amazing footage, very rare to have all those people gathered and someone videotaping it. I'm just glad everyone's okay.

Yes, I understand that the more experienced were busily helping, and they are true heroes. What I'm talking about is the people that are running around screaming obscenities and yelling at the firemen to get the kid out. It's a straight fact. In emergency situations, most people become useless or just flip the hell out. It's not really their fault. It's adrenaline. It's just always interesting to me that it goes down that way.

Senor makes a good point....how crappy would that be if they weren't able to pull out that little boy. Instead he would have filmed the boy burning to death.

As for the people standing around....The space to manuever was small for one thing. So I would happily allowed someone who is experienced (like a firefighter) take over and do the job. They certainly would know better of how to handle the situation. If a childs life is in danger, we would all do what we could to help, even if means letting more experienced people do the job.

Skipweasel I wonder about that phrase as well. I guess it's a nicer way to say that they sucked at driving so got in to a wreck. Well, at least some of the times...

As for the guy filming.. Not like he could really do much else. He would've just been in the way if he had tryed helping like some of those idiots standing around there.

I often wonder about the phrase "Lost control of the car". It seems to excuse poor driving. Except in the case of mechanical failure, I reckon "Failed to properly control his/her car" would get the point across better.

Im glad everything turned out ok. Halfway through I felt guilty for watching this video, Im not sure why.

I dont understand the impulse the guy had to film this situation. Luckily he captured a heroic moment but if one thing went differently he would have filmed a little boy burning to death.

Now, y'all, the guy who took the video was the uncle of one of the men who helped. He may be quite old, which would explain the breathlessness better than the assumption that he is overweight.

Ted, I was thinking "extremely fat slob stands around breathing like he needs a coronary in about 30 seconds whilst two brave souls risk life and limb to save people." Those two firemen were extremely righteous, man. How awesome. I am, however, always slightly put off by the fact that in an adrenal response situation, many people just run around like morons.

two things:

Anyone else wondering how long it took the guy with the camera to get it and get back instead of oh say getting a fire extinguisher or similar?

and anyone else get some smoke or some other irritant in their eye?
