Taking Too Long in the Bathroom? Get a Divorce!

You know the honeymoon is over when this happened: when the husband found out that his new wife took too long in the airport restroom, he decided to get on the plane without her!

The woman in question, a teacher, had gone to use the facilities at the airport before boarding a flight back in Saudi Arabia.

Quite how long she stayed in the toilet remains unclear. What is certain is she emerged to discover her husband had vanished without trace. The woman, who had paid for the holiday, began a desperate search of the airport and grew increasingly concerned that something terrible had happened to him. [...]

When he arrived at his destination, he calmly told relatives his new wife was still in Malaysia. His bride was not so calm about his behaviour. She has demanded an immediate divorce.

If you were getting on a plane, and your companion stayed in the restroom so long that she missed the flight, what would you do?

For me, it depends on the person. For some I would go into the restroom to find out what was wrong. For others, I would go on with my business and place bets on what excuse she would give me.

Maybe she wasn't in the restroom long enough to miss the plane. Maybe she missed it b/c she was searching for her husband. *shrugs*
He could've called in to the bathroom to see what was wrong though.
What a douche

I say good call! I mean, what's next? She takes too long preparing his dinner, or his daily paper isn't placed at his feet promptly? You've gotta nip these things in the bud people, let's be reasonable.

Well, folks, we must look at the fact that they are Saudi Arabian. Women don't exactly get the best treatment in that part of the world, especially in the marriage department. I mean, this is the country that both says a woman can't be a passenger in the front seat of a car, or that you can beat your wife for spending too much money.

It makes me think of "Everybody Love Raymond" where Raymond leaves Debra after making him wait all the time (where they get to places late all the time due to her never being ready on time), so he leaves to a party without her. But to happen in real life? Especially if they were on a honeymoon, whoa.

There's something I didn't get about the article. They were in Malaysia and were supposed to fly home (which the article doesn't state where). Why then does the article say that the wife "boarded a flight back in Saudi Arabia"? Were they in Malaysia or Saudi Arabia. Besides, if she bought tickets for them both on the same flight, wouldn't they have met in the plane when she boarded it after he had boarded? Unless she missed the flight while searching for her husband... A simple check on the airplane would have showed whether he had already boarded it or not.

i assume that she missed the flight because she was searching for her husband, otherwise the article would read "she was livid to discover her husband already waiting on the plane."- which might not be the grounds for divorce that just ditching her is.

and the article doesn't say anywhere that their home is in the middle east- he just happened to leave her in Saudi Arabia during a layover- and then lied to her family and said she was still in Malaysia.

dick move, sir, dick move.
