10 Beautiful Ceilings

Posted by Miss Cellania in Architecture on July 2, 2009 at 2:03 pm

We hardly ever look at ceilings, but they can make a world of difference in the mood of a room. Architecture fan deputy dog has a roundup of beautiful ceilings from all over. He is still looking for an explanation of this ceiling. Pictured is a ceiling at Jerónimos Monastery in Lisbon, Portugal. Link

I've seen the pictured ceiling style in other cathedrals as well, in particular St. Bavos church in Haarlem. It must be something about the Gothic architecture.

Beautiful gallery. I, for one, frequently notice the ceiling. Airports tend to be especially good.

at last! as a civil engineer, everywhere I enter, the first thing I do is looking at the ceiling. It's like an obsession!

The title says it all. Some excellent photography, as well.

Truly gorgeous stuff. At least now I know I'm not a weird person when the first thing I do when I enter a building or room is look up at the ceiling...because sometimes the ceiling is the main attraction!
