Web Side Story: Internet, The Musical

By Alex in Blogs & Internet, Music, Video Clips on Jun 29, 2009 at 1:11 pm

What could be better than the Internet? How about the Interweb, the musical? Here’s Web Side Story (but of course), a musical by College Humor about all the good things on the Net in the style of West Side Story. Leonard Bernstein is probably spinning in his grave.

Web Side Story, written and directed by Sam Reich, produced by Eva Wong.

The girl in red had the most fascinating…eyes. Yes, eyes. I was enthralled. I also understand there was singing and dancing and timely social commentary in there somewhere. I think. Sorry, what?

Well, they did choose a good cast I guess, I’ll give them that much.

What a brilliant and original idea! So easy, when all the music and basic story was written for you by someone much more talented! And such pithy commentary on the Internet!

Its almost as creative as that Lego video game video, though both could have used some Star Wars references to insure audience recognition.

“now I can’t wait to read about me later on your blog!”

The Pandora is called “Maria” in the original, I think.

Brilliant, but Leonard Bernstein probably wouldn’t have the first clue as to why this is funny.

Haha, very nicely done, a good wake-up call for those forgetting how it is to meet someone the old fashioned way. :P
