M.J. was just found dead at the age of fifty, apparently from a cardiac arrest. He was scheduled to perform a number of comeback concerts next year.

“We’re told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back,” the entertainment website [TMZ] said.

Regardless of how you feel about his personal “issues” this is a sad day for pop music fans and weird art enthusiasts everywhere.

CNN said in a coma but alive.

Yeah, jumping the gun a little on this news I think. I was just watching the TV and they're pretty vague about whats even going on with him.
Maybe "not quite dead yet" or "mostly dead"... but not dead-dead.

First off he wasn't "found dead" he was rushed to the hospital and it's not even for sure if he died or not yet.

I'm going to wait a few days to see if every channel is whining about his death before I believe it.

Ok, updated news I saw also said dead. Seems to be generally accepted info now?
Or will he get up and do the Thriiler?

The name of the site is Neatorama. If it's not neat, it's ama. This is ama.

Is there some sort of drinking game in place for whenever someone questions the "neatness" of a post? (Personally, I interpret the "neat" in Neatorama as a neutral "interesting" rather than a positive "awesome.")

If he is dead (I last heard coma 30 minutes ago), does he count as the third celebrity death?

Mariah is a friend of the legend MJ.

Mariah Carey had included "I'll Be There" as a last-minute addition to her MTV Unplugged setlist.

Carey, drop a heartfelt message to his site.

that '3rd hand' on the statue is the monkey's foot. the monkey's pants look like MJ's sleeves (but his sleeves have a white cuff, where the monkey's pants doesn't). The monkey's feet just look very hand-like.

I don't understand why people get so "involved" in the death of a manufactured celebrity like this. Princess Di, David Carradine, etc. Are people's lives so utterly devoid of meaning that they have to emotionally invest in some entertainer whom they never personally knew, who never knew them, who never contributed to the betterment of humankind (and, no, selling a bunch of records doesn't count).

Well its life ...But I am sure ...There's gonna be more to Life...

  46. PK
    June 26th, 2009 at 1:46 am

@42: He wasn't as manufactured as the untalented pop stars these days though. Besides, he pretty much perfected the pop formula.

And I would disagree with you saying him never contributed to the betterment of mankind. You don't need to invent rockets or science stuff to have some literal contribution. Arts and culture are just as important. Nevertheless, civilizations are best remembered by their arts. I have not heard a single MJ song in my life, but judging by how my (older) friends and how people around the world were moaning - I'd say at least he is on to something influential. Being able to write and sing and perform music that makes millions happy and enjoy their parties and lives are just or almost as important as inventing a vaccine that cures millions, or a political movement that revolutionizes a country. Life is for living after all, not just for struggling!

In reply to IQ, you are wrong. He was never convicted of child molestation so what makes you right? He was an amazing man who changed the way we see music and dance and that deserves some respect. We should focus on the positives of his life not the negative, he was a true legend and the king of pop, RIP Michael, the world is in mourning.

    June 26th, 2009 at 7:28 pm

    #68:

"On January 1, 1994, Jackson settled with the Chandler family and their legal team out of court, in a civil lawsuit for $22 million. After the settlement Jordan Chandler refused to continue with Police criminal proceedings. Jackson was never charged, and the state closed its criminal investigation, citing lack of evidence."

Now, please continue to lionize a child molester, I'm not going to stop you or NAMBLA from expressing your opinions, as I honor the first amendment to the constitution of the United States of America.

  73. Ronald
    June 27th, 2009 at 12:12 am

He was not convicted, so by law, he is innocent (until proven guilty). However, because of certain undeniable circumstances, such as settling out of court, these facts mean that we can reasonably have either a good or bad opinion of him. Many people admire him for various reasons (body of work, talent, style, barriers he broke) and it doesn't seem right to keep reminding them of unproven allegations.

  74. Ronald
    June 27th, 2009 at 12:13 am

I guess what I'm trying to say is one can express their own opinion of MJ, but they shouldn't tell other people how they should feel about him.

I'm a black girl who really loves Michael with all her heart
