Soviet Russian Album Covers

English Russia has a collection of record album covers from the 70s and 80s. Looking through these, I get the feeling that I’ve seen these before, just with different faces and a language I understand. Link -via Metafilter

    When I saw this > http://media.englishrussia.com/soviet_discs/1_008.jpg
I instantly thought of Judas Priest's Defenders of Faith.

And Zodiac's Disco Alliance ?! I have a friend who has this vinyl. Early techno synthy sound. But the cover looks a little like something I may have seen Daft Punk do.

I instantly thought of the Russian rocker guy Olaf in Kevin Smith's Clerks. "Olaf: Berzerker!"

Dumb of me, I always thougth there was no "western" style pop music in the Soviet Union.

It seems like most Russian and East European pop culture is a rip off of American music, but much lamer and 10 years behind
