The Face in Hogenakkal Falls

Neatoramanaut Debashish Paul took a photo of a section of Hogenakkal Falls in South India that has a face of a mustachiod man. I know, I know, it’s just pareidolia (the tendency of human brains to see familiar images and faces in objects), but it’s still very cool!

LinkThanks Debashish!

Looks like Ahmadinejad. Save Israel and destroy the waterfall.

It would have been interesting to see what (if anything) people saw in the photo with OUT priming their minds by saying it was a face. Oh well, too late now.

Look at the yellow area to the right of the tree.

I saw the face in the tree first…
It looks like it is looking to the left in profile view..
With a big nose. He is singing.

For a moment, I dared hope that Borat had drowned himself.

@Eni: Not everyone, myself included, suffers from pareidolia.

Not only is there a face there, but the poor try is scared and desperately trying to get away from it.

Interesting, that’s the second reference to pareidolia that I’ve read online in the last two hours.

Err, the poor “TREE”. The face scared me into making that mistake.

I’m gonna go ahead and be the first to say that it looks like Jesus. Just a little. I demand that it be sold on eBay.

And where is the pareidolia I am automatically suppose to be drawn to? Must I really click on the link that most likely has a close up and outlined section, pointing it out for me? A ghost in a millisecond click off a digital camera. Our saviour in quick glances. Da Vinci in my retina fluid monkeys.

    Oh wait!
    That’s not Jesus!
    That’s the Devil!

I never noticed him while shooting. It just appeared in the photograph!!! God know what’s that. But people who have noticed the tree with a singing face is cool too :) I never noticed that. Guess have to search for more faces there now… :)

My guess was Saddam Hussein. I guess Ahmadinejad is funnier, because he’s not dead yet.

Actually if you go by sayings and myths, its the most dreaded ghost in the area which accounts for several of the killings in the waterfall from drowning, etc. People often pray for it not to turn up, but yeah the photographer was lucky enough to escape alive.

It has been mentioned but definitely looks like the devil…but it’s the devil from old magician poster ‘Carter beats the Devil’ (there’s a book of the same name).
