You can see anoht elephant in the back on the right, so the probability is that there’s a lot more happening in the direction they’re looking.

May seem funny, but the lens that that guy has on his camera is such a large zoomlens that it probably doesn’t make sense anyway to take a picture of that elephant- unless he perhaps wanted to photograph a hair on the elephants back or something.
