I'm kind of floored that everyone didn't know that "thank you for being a friend" was a hit song before the golden girls, I remember the song and never associate it with the show.

I think sitcoms are a lost art. Give me a canned laugh track and an improbable plot and I am a happy guy. One redeeming modern example is "Corner Gas". Also love "Wings" from a decade ago and their Franz Schubert theme.

I must say reality TV is a talentless medium that has ushered in the decline of western civilization.

A correction--Preppies was an off-Broadway musical, not a Broadway one. it played at the Promenade Theatre at Broadway and 76th Street, which is now a Sephora.

Well I knew the Andy Griffith Show's theme song had lyrics, but I never suspected the I Dream of Jeannie theme had optional lyrics as well.

A really interesting part about the M*A*S*H theme is that Mozart's Sonata in A KV331 Alla Turca. At first, you might not suspect that Mozart may have anything to do with the writing, but you'll be pretty surprised when you listen to that!

I loved the Addams Family Theme as a kid, now I have it sometimes as a ringtone in Theme Parties.. hehehe!!

Wow, I had pretty much destroyed my memories of how utterly awful the last seasons of Happy Days were. For a show that was so original and neat at the beginning to just drag its feet and pretend it is still watchable is just sad. Even Donny Most left that stinking pile of crap.

I freak my kids out by singing the lyrics of Amazing Grace to the tune of House of the Rising Sun. I'll have to try Gilligan's Island, but it probably won't have the same effect because they've never seen the show.

Another neat/weird/sacrilegious fact about the ‘Gilligan’ theame song: it is possible to substitue the words to ‘Amazing Grace’into the tune for 'Gilligan's Island'. It freaks me out when my mom does it.

There's a chain of restaurants in Canada called Kelsey's that uses the Cheers theme song in their commercials. Their slogan is "Cheers to good food". I cringe every time the commercials comes on.
