Man Got 1,197 Piercings in One Day

Surely some daring Neatoramanaut can beat this record:

ARLINGTON, Texas, May 11 (UPI) — A Texas body modification enthusiast said he broke a Guinness World Record by receiving 1,197 piercings in a single day.

Jeremy Stroud said Arlington body modification artist Tyson Turk spent about five hours May 2 inserting 800 needles into his back, 300 in his right arm, 50 in his leg and about 20 in his left arm, the Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram reported Monday.

    This is very unhealthy for the body. One or two piercings at a time, I can understand. But putting that many holes in one's body is just begging for some kind of infection. (I know they use all sterile stuff, but there's a lot of dirt out there, and this guy is asking a lot of his immune system.)

    Heartless, if they were planning on healing all of those piercings you would be correct.

    iirc the non-Guinness record is something like 5000 piercings done in one sitting in one day.

    HeartlessMachine:- Would the total risk of infection be less if he had all howevermany piercings spread out over a longer time? I see no reason to think it would.

    Owch

    I'm big into piercings, body mod's in general and tattoo's... but this is just insanely overboard.

    His body is going to reject a massive amount, if not all of them. Plus he put his central nervous system, blood sugar levels and heart under serious pressure.

    I wouldn't be surprised and I honestly would not feel sorry for him, if in the near future if he develops one, if not a few bodily system problems.

    I did not do this for 15 minutes of fame. I did this because my friend Tyson, the one who pierced me, asked me to. Its that simple. I worked at this for a long time, and broke the record. I had Doctors approval and medical staff on hand. I knew i ran a very high risk for infection, i had antibiotics on hand. I am still perfectly healthy after 2 weeks.Just thought I would stop by and say hello...OH AND, there is a reason that the person that got to 5000 didn't make the book. FOLLOW THE RULZ.....
