Erm, okay, Gauldar. Will you send me a cheque for $2000, now?

"Not fitting in" would be a valid reason for getting rid of somebody, but what are the criteria for "not fitting in"? That's what makes them sound arrogant. If you don't fit in, you must be an "asshole". That's pretty arrogant, in my opinion.

People who have only worked for one company (or who have never worked long enough for a single company) do not realize the importance of corporate culture. Not "fitting in" is a valid reason for firing.

What sticks in my craw is that every company with a culture assumes it is the best, if not only, one. For example, IBM and AT&T both have a corporate culture. Both are wildly successful. Their cultures are radically different.

For the individual, if you do not fit in. Find someplace you do. Unfortunately, part of your job is adapt to the company, not for the company to adapt to you.

Neat, I have used Zappos many a time and they are a superb company. Great customer service and great selection and fast shipment.

Great to get a feel for how they keep the good customer service going.

Let me see if I understand this: Any Zappos employee who doesn't adhere to the company propoganda, um, culture, is an asshole.

In my experience with this novel "paradigm" of a company, the only thing it really sells is convenience.

Ten years in business IS a fair example that this feel-good paradigm works, but the whole Twitter thing sticks in my craw.

Is it a "candy store employees eat for free" kind of thing, where you figure they'll get sick of it and stop stealing from you eventually? We've had people where I work laid off FIRST because they just wouldn't stop texting, Facebooking and eBaying.
