Email a copy of 'Music Tidbits: Joe Strummer' to a friend
Thank you for the tribute to Joe! I love and miss him very much, not only for his wonderful music but also his political views and the way he embraced global cultures throughout his life and career. His work with the Clash and the Mescaleros is really an amazing legacy. Love ya, Joe!
That Joe Strummer wall painting is in my neighborhood, near the corner of Avenue A and 7th street, I believe.
Just a typo suggestion… in the 8th bullet you have the name of the bassist as Paul Simmon and it should be Paul Simonon.
its on the wall outside of niagara.
joe was easily one of the coolest guys ever. a personal hero of mine.
nice post.
He is a brilliant musician, and his music with the Mescaleros is GREAT! Very different from the Clash.
@buu & Gail Pink – that location will always be the A7 Club in my eyes and ears. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A7_(bar)
One of very few celebrity deaths that have ever made me shed a tear. That documentary mentioned in the last bullet point is fantastic for fans, by the way; definitely worth checking out.
He had a song called Mondo Bongo (or something) in the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
wow! thanks for that. Despite the music changes i have made over the years, the Clash are still by far my favorite band!
London Calling changed my life, but Mondo Bongo was more than that even. Joe was important in so many ways.
I wish the phrase, “The good die young”, wasn’t so true.
One of my most prized possessions is hanging above my door scribbled with, “To Grant, Joe Strummer”
Eventhough this is a short story of Joe Strummer, I think I knew him right there and then. This post touch my hear. He was so active in everything about the mother earth, and to know that he was a rocker. I like his views.
