They probly wouldn’t be able to live a normal dog life as they are the property of the lab in which they were created, and taking them off premisis is considered theft.
The lab will get what they want out of them and the put them to sleep, poor little guys.

Are you really sure that’s what’s going to happen to the glowpuppies? The experiment done to them was done before they were born, when they were just a small lump of cells. I doubt they felt anything then.

And I see no reason why, after being born, they would not be allowed to live a normal dog life, perhaps given to the scienctists or family/friends, etc..

All “cuteness” aside, I can’t understand the need to use a living being who cannot say no and has no understanding of the why behind the experiments done on them. An animal does feel pain, and it’s not right to use then for useless experiments like this. These “glow dogs” will be kept in a laboratory in small 2″x2″ cages stacked on top of each other and have all manner of tests done on them, never seeing the light of day It’s just so cruel.

I honestly don’t think these pets will be available to the public, unless someone wants to give a HUGE grant to the research facility. They do this to learn ways of inserting other types of genes. It’s very easy to find out whether a fluorescent gene is expressed, so that’s what they use to test gene-insertion techniques.

This is a bad idea. At best it’s a waste of time and another excuse for people to buy pure breeds or ‘special’ breed cats and dogs rather than adopting one of the millions of homeless animals that need a good home. At worst…I don’t even want to think about that.

Sure, they say they are doing this to explore cures for human diseases… but we all know the only doors they plan on opening up are a market for Korean Glow Dogs! I’m wondering who is backing this research, concidering that he was exposed for his previous experiment being false, I predict most of the research is being funded by gold farmers in World of Warcraft, because what WOW player wouldn’t want their own KOREAN GLOW DOG!
