My feminist comments are not obnoxious.
You don't work on Broadway, you work under a rock in the Jurassic Period, and Ted, you're just like a five year old with no concept of modern day society.
I would not even dignify calling you a moron. You're worse.

Read Beverly McPhail's article on Google today,

I am so very happy for Miss Boyle. She certainly deserves all the recognition she gets. I believe that record producers will be knocking down her door. Be careful Susan, & don't let anyone rip you off. Make sure you have someone you have 100% confidence in, to look over any contract you sign, so that you are well protected. Best Wishes, & GOD BLESS.....

Her voice is simply incredible.

I do hope the fame doesn't go to her head; there are rumors she is considering plastic surgery! Part of her charm is her natural beauty. . .

Grandmommie

You're absolutely right. It's called manipulation. And we as an audience were manipulated to think Ms Boyle was a "weirdo", hence the "funny music" as she came onstage.

I'm not denigrating Susan Boyle's obvious talent at all ... just the dishonesty factor the GBT Team use to make her even more of an underdog.

She had to go through a preliminary audition and they'd have known then they had something special.

Cowell at least, if not Dumbo Morgan and Mutton-dressed-as-lamb Holden, knew of Ms Boyle well before her very public first showing. PR Guru (and general pain-in-the-bum) Max Clifford said as much in a very recent interview.

And of course ... the manipulation was successful.

25 million YouTube and worldwide fame through viralvid is testament not just to Susan Boyle's talent ... but also how intrusive media-manipulation can be!

Like most people, I was moved to tears within the first few notes Susan sang. I have followed with interest the comments of those with voice training and vocal experience. I have neither, and could certainly hear nothing amiss in her delivery. What did strike me, though, in both her BGT and "Cry Me a River" recordings was the difficulty any singer has singing to recorded music. Much of the magic, I think, occurs in the emotional and stylistic "dialogue" and interchange between a singer and her back-up band or orchestra. Singing, as Susan has, to a recording seems a lot like an actor performing a dialogue scene with a tape recorder, or like high-tech Karaoke. I can only imagine how rich and nuanced her voice and performance can be when she is responding to (and being responded to) by a live orchestra. I hope such a CD isn't long in coming!

Imagine if Susan had more time to rehearse the song with some professonal help. Some parts of the song were ment to be softer and perhaps with all the noise going on in the audience the poor girl really had to turn up the volume so she could be heard. Think Simon needs to have a ' quiet please ' sign in the overhead so good acts aren't ruined by hecklers or cheerers. It takes plenty of courage to appear before a ' live ' croud that may be hostile right at the outset let alone being broadcast nationaly on television.

If I had the chance to arrange her act with that peticular song, ( I Dreamed a Dream ) it would be something very much like actress Carol Burnette performed on some of her TV show skits when she sang. Remember the ' Maid with the mop and bucket ' act that she occationaly did on her TV skits when she sang a sad ballad ? It would be perfect set up for Susan with such an act and I dare say that there wouldn't be a dry eye in the house!

Susan, on behalf of all the people that still continue to dream their dream, we thank you ! Bravo!

I'm rather amused by the comments about the level of vibrato in Susan's voice, he technique etc etc. Those poor wannabes will always be just that.....they can't embrace in her STAR quality and amazing talent without trying to grab onto her apron strings and claim some kind of fame.......no one has heard of them or cares about them. They are simply 'nobodies'.
As for her appearance......wardrobe, hair and makeup will make the difference. She is simply a pure talent who hasn't had the opportunity for a stylist.

Ted--I was a medical student in the 1970s. We women were treated horribly by the men in the class. We all had to use a common "residents' room" to write up our medical assessments, and the walls were covered with Playboy centerfolds. The male students would sneer at us and say "These are REAL women." Playgirl magazine was born in 1973, and I bought the first copy and put the centerfold on the wall. The men had a fit and said, "That's gross!". "These are REAL men, I replied." Four years later, I was a contestant on national television in a beauty pageant which took place in Las Vegas. The only reason I say this (besides to authenticate my experience with what I said above about everything on television being planned perfectly), is to let Ted know that there was and is prejudice against women, regardless of what they know, what they accomplish or what they look like. It's not as bad as it used to be, but it's still there. Even though I'm an M.D., I'm still an "object" sometimes.

Susan Boyle has a beautiful voice. Her looks are not "standard Hollywood glamor" but that shouldn't be a factor in how great a singer she is or how her performance should be judged. She gave a breathtaking performance. I can't believe, however, that the judges weren't aware of what a good singer she was before the television performance we all saw. This isn't 1952 television where things are ad libbed. Big money is involved in television these days, and nobody is going to take a chance on anything going wrong. There has to be complete control. There are rehearsals. There are mike checks. Susan Boyle had a tremendous crescendo. The sound system had to be able to handle both the highs and the lows. How could the judges not be aware that she was going to give a fantastic performance? They would not allow themselves to be sheltered from the technical crew. You can't keep something like that a secret. I also thought it was interesting that Susan looked awkward when walking out on the stage--then gave a polished performance with perfect gestures, indicating to me that someone who knew what they were doing had coached her in giving a flawless performance. The song itself was a perfect choice for a world suffering under the burden of the worst economy in decades. It reminded me of the Frank Capra movies of the 1930s, where the "underdog" wins, which gave people hope during the great depression. I believe there was careful planning. Things do not happen by accident on television today.

Yep...that anyone like Susan would or could surprise in such an uplifting manner is the whole point or should be in my humble opinion. To those who love to stand in judgement of everyone except their perfect selves and are a constant wet blanket to good things in this world I am sorry.

Ted

Gemma said I was right in the things I said. Look at the start of her blog.
Things are changing for women.
I can't help it, if you're angry at that.
You're a dinosaur and you would look very good in the Natural History Museum with the other exhibits.
Sexist men like you are getting out of fashion.

Tatty bye.

Amber, and all us other lovely tall drinks of water, out there. I'm 67, weigh 180, and 5'10" tall. I've never been skinny, even when a teenager. Laughed at, made fun of, because of height, weight, etc., but married a fine man who loves me still. I would have been happy with the single life, cats, dogs, horses, painting, sewing, whatever hobby or craft I undertook. Women do Not NEED men, it's only society that pushes marriage, and these stupid size 0 fashions.
I had the same background almost, helping to take care of elderly parents, and not looking to marry.

I applaud Susan for keeping her dream alive, not letting anyone else put her down, or tell her to forget her dream, just because 'they' thought (?) it best for her.

Susan Boyle does Not have to be a skinny anorexic twit, she's fine just as she is, and has a lovely voice, and charming personality. I hope she goes on to make many recordings, and I will buy one or more of all of them.

Sorry, Hannah. You just proved my point. You avoided everything I said except the bit about dirty pictures in phone booths. Then you went on to debate Gemma, whom you agreed with completely in your previous post. You're just arguing for the sake of arguing, and ignoring anything you can't respond to.

Why so mad at Hollywood? Maybe you should direct your anger at the phone booth company in England.

Sarah Boyle made this punk rock girl smile today...

It was like watching the puniest kid on the playground bash the bully in the head with a dodge ball.

Yep, she's 47, single, lives with 'Pebbles', is unemployed, has a learning disability....and is unattractive.

Honestly, how could I not love this person?

I've never fit into this cultures idea of beauty either...I reached 5'10 and 170lbs by the time I was in 9th grade. I'm a line backer of a woman. The fact that I wanted to be an artist and wore combat boots and 'Ramone's' shirts didn't make me any more attractive.

Guess what? I'm still 5'10, 170lbs, and wearing 'Ramone's' shirts at 35....and yes, still trying to get my work seen and in galleries. Susan Boyle makes me not want to give up.

Ann Hathaway and Paris Hilton are not the type of people I have ever aspired to be. Shockingly, I've found most women don't find them inspiring either. Maybe Susan Boyle is what many of us have been looking for all these years.

I hope her first record goes platinum....and she gets Pebbles a diamond collar.

I was having a bad day, feeling down and low... I heard on a radio commentary about a lady in UK on a talent show.. the name Susan Boyle and how millions of people have watched her performance on Youtube. Having nothing else to do, I decided to check it out. Her spirit and performance lifted my spirit and made me smile. God sends Angels in mysterious ways..... Thank you Susan.

Susan Boyle's voice is a wonderful gift to us all. So wonderful that she has now been heard around the world by millions of people! Typically Scottish, she is keeping her feet on the ground because she knows it was a matter of being at the right place at the right time that got her all of this attention. She will do well from here on and we will all be the better for it.

There is a lot of undiscovered talent in this world. In Susan's case, we all feel as if WE discovered her, as, in fact, we each did when we first heard her. Be thankful for that feeling you got at that moment. Such feelings can be rare in one's life

After the third time watching Susan Boyle's performance, I emailed the link to everyone I knew. Didn't prepare them -- just said "trust me...watch it."

Even my brother, my big burly truck-driving motorcycle-riding gun-toting brother, got tears in his eyes watching it. Then he couldn't stop raving about how amazing she was, except when he was thanking me for making him watch it. (He'd been sent the link by a few people before me, but he blew them off.)

I hope only wonderful things come to Susan from this!

Gemma

Models and actresses don't starve themselves of their own free will. They are victimised and they are desperately striving to change the Status Quo.
These actresses know the damaging messages Hollywood is setting to young women. Those actressess who are at the very heart of the film industry have real life stories to tell of their experience in the industry, and they paint a damming picture of the harsh reality they face as actressess.

Example. Clare Sweeny, that lovely great actress from Brookside went to Hollywood recently and was told that, even prior to being granted an audition she would have to go down to a size 6 when she was already a size 8. I bet you did not know that.
She preferred not to starve herself in the end, as she preferred to keep her dignity with a healthy size 8 figure, thank you very much, and went back to England afew pounds heavier, but with her head held high.

Another example is Emily Blunt, who has gone from strength to strength in Hollywood.
However, recently Ms. Blunt complained bitterly, that she was made to starve herself for a role in
The Devil Wears Prada. In her own words, she painfully described how she and fellow actress Anne Hathaway were crying in each others arms from starvation. Ms Blunt proceeded to explain how undignified it was watching other actressess eating a handful of cheese cubes, and looking ill because the size zero culture is something that is imposed on them. Hardly something I would call free will self starvation, Gemma.
Are these enough examples for you, Gemma?
They are hardly singular cases.

Thank God sex makes the world go round.Sex does indeed sell, and women are as much entitled to be titilated by sexual images as the men are. But there is rather a shortage of men selling the sex.
Gemma, the point I am making has escaped you and that is that women are used in a sexual content to sell it far, far more than men are, and most women would agree to that.
Gemma, you may not want to see a brawny male sprawled all over a car, but millions of women might just buy that car if a semi naked muscular young man were sprawled all over it,rather than an anorexic looking woman. It's mainly the women who sell through sex. How disproportionate is that. Since there are as many women drivers as there are men, I would say they are as much entitled to be titilated by sexual images as the men are, only thing is, most women want to see men in sexually provocative positions, not other women.

I don't think the human race would die out if less than beautiful women were employed to advertise cars and swimsuits to sell them. A woman like Susan Boyle or Ann Widdecombe can be just as sexually alluring as say
Jordan. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Most women would rather buy a swimsuit modelled by say Susan Boyle or Ann Widdecome, simply because most women don't look like those air brushed chicks on the posters and in mags. Most women know that they can't and simply do not want to measure up to the glossy supermodel bimbo babe image which quite frankly are intimidating.

It’s mainly the women who sell through sex. How disproportionate is that. Since there are as many women drivers as there are men, I would say they are as much entitled to be titilated by sexual images as the men are, only thing is, most women want to see men in sexually provocative positions, not other women.

I don’t think the human race would die out if less than beautiful women were employed to advertise cars and swimsuits to sell them. A woman like Susan Boyle or Ann Widdecombe can be just as sexually alluring as say
Jordan. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Most women would rather buy a swimsuit modelled by say Susan Boyle or Ann Widdecome, simply because most women don’t look like those air brushed chicks on the posters and in mags. Most women know that they can’t and simply do not want to measure up to the glossy supermodel bimbo babe image which quite frankly are intimidating.

You're obviously not British

Ever heard of Kings Cross in London.
If you want to see the naked, heavy duty porn pictures of women free of charge in the phone booths there, go see.

Next time you're in London, that is.

Happy Sight Seeing.

Wow, Hannah. I`d reply to your diatribe, but you`re not really listening, are you?

Maybe you never see the sexualization of men because you're not looking for it, just as you only saw what you wanted to see in Gemma's comment.

I'm just curious where these phone booths are that are plastered with pictures of naked women. I've never seen that in my life.

As far as Clinton and Obama, why don't you compare McCain and Obama? They chose the more attractive yuong man to the older, less attractive man. Obama was all about the charisma. In other words, you just disproved your own point - it happens to men, too.

Look outside your narrow little perceptions and see the world around you, hannah. Oops, looks like I replied a little. Oh well, it doesn't matter. You're not paying attention, anyways.

Hannah,
Can I suggest that perhaps you take a step back and laugh a little. No-one is saying you are wrong in what you say. I understand where you are coming from. However, Ted did not say anything that was incorrect or wrong or insulting, he said and I quote (with some paraphrase of my own and apologies to Ted): "...It is time to stop perpetrating the old notion that women are victims...and treat them as people.....otherwise they will always be victims" Thanks Ted, you are an angel from Heaven. Now, Hannah, what Ted said is true. We are NOT victims, but if we constantly think of ourselves as victims, then we will be treated as victims. Because 'victims' always put out 'Victim' type vibes and hence bring the victimisation on themselves. We as women have NEVER been victims! What women did throughout history as they do now, they do of their own freewill --- certainly social mores had a bearing on their choices. Now, Hannah, before you write another word, try changing the word Victim to Challenge. What we had was certainly discrimination but we saw it as a 'CHALLENGE.' A challenge that my generation of women set about CHALLENGING! We challenged everything from the men's right to dominate certain professions, trades, the so-called Glass-ceiling and positions, to their right to be paid 30percent more and we won! We won so that women today have the opportunities that we did not. As Mothers we brought our sons up to be more enlightened towards women. Frankly, we enjoyed challenging the 'establishment'. We enjoyed being the first to do something. We enjoyed breaking down barriers. BUT without the assistance of many, many Men folk, we may well not have done it. Today, certainly there is the trend for skinny emaciated models and actors - no-one twists their arms to be skinny-- they starve themselves of their own free-will. They have a voice, they can always CHALLENGE the trend/system by refusing! I have already said how I think men, women, children alike are judged all the time and it is certainly NOT simply when youth fades-- some women are far prettier at 60 than at 20 while some men are simply not superbly handsome until they reach their 50's, 60's and beyond. As to your comments re the current USA President V Clinton I think you are dead wrong! Age had nothing to do with it. Hilary is 'yesterday's lady' --- the world has moved forward. Forgive for my next comment, I do not mean to offend, but whether ladies like it or not, sex or the implication thereof, is what makes the world go around --- it sells everything from cars to swimsuits, to houses, to pantyhose. Without it, the world would simply stop! And to use it is not exploitation of anybody or anyone. It is simply a fact of life --- you sing Opera --- one of the sexiest operas I can think of right now is 'Lowingrin" (?Spelling) by Wagner --- in fact the Overture to the (I think) final Act and the Bridal Chorus just about spell it out in neon signs! And that was written in the 1800's! In short, what I am trying to say in a long-winded manner is step back and laugh! Enjoy the journey of life, laugh at the sexy dames drawn on telephone walls, better still ignore them and don't bite so hard when a man puts forward his point of view. Oh, and be careful in repeating someone, be precise and if you are not going to be precise, give an explanation for using other words --- these blogs are wonderful but you don't know who is behind the comments --- it could be a lawyer, a Judge, a Doctor, it could be anyone. Just an opinion.

Gemma

You are so very right in all that you say, and believe me it is not just your opinion, but what you say is FACT. There is not one woman on this planet who has not experienced everything you write on this blog.

Ted
You're dead wrong yet again. It is Women who, are mostly judged on their looks, not their entire lives, but when youth fades.
Cosmetic companies earn millions by feeding off women's insecurities as they age.
The thousand pound a jar firming creams on the market are aimed at women and not at men, creating the false illusion that a sixty something woman can miraculously regenerate her youthful complexion by using their expensive products. What a load of...........
Incidentally, I think Susan Boyle should be a model for face creams, as she has the most amasingly beautiful skin.
Ted
You would do well to concider those millions of families who have wives, daughters , mothers and sisters who suffer from an eating disorder just to conform to the size zero culure; the hospitals are overflowing with their misery but you dodge that subject very conspicuously in your blog. I think it is because you very clearly know nothing about it. anorexia and bulimia are eating diseases that afflict women more than men, because they are judged more on their looks than men. It is a modern day plague which is exacerbated by the media. Women are victimized and bullied by this sexist phenomenon much more than men are. The top fashion houses of Europe are teeming with size zero models, who flog their skimpy overblown price taged fashions on us. Most women have a full figure, and it is the strong women who refuse to allow themselves to be bullied into submission by the Diors and Channels., and Versaces.

Ted, explain, if you can, why it is women rather than men who are targeted by this size zero culture, if as you claim men and women are judged the sameon looks, if you want to be nitpicking on words.
If you make a convincing argument for that, you'll be a first. Of course Hollywood did not invent looks discrimination, but with the invention of more and more technically advanced and sophisticated media communication, of which Hollywood is only a part, society has, over the last century, been able to use those sophisticated tools to exploit and victimize women, especially in a tasteless, sexual content, which is offensive and abhorrent to women.
A classic example of this is how Young Women are used sexually to sell cars, by sprawling their bits all over billboard posters. I never see men being used like that.

With this technically advanced media, also comes the freedom to exploit women in other manifestations.

How many times do women need to go into telephone kiosks to make a quick call, only to see degrading and disgusting pictures of naked women and young girls, NOT MEN, plastered around every corner of the booth.

The only reason why women are judgmental about other women's looks these days is because of the media pressure placed mostly on them.
A woman's natural inclination is to side with other women; the suffragette movement surely teaches us that.

Women are desperately trying to change the current culture's climate, but it is going at an alarmingly slow pace.

Women know all to well, that ageism is also something that affects them more than men.
The real reason why Hillary Clinton lost to obuma is because the American people preferred having a young male for President as opposed to a 60 something woman.
Men would not have felt so threatened by a young and very beautiful female candidate, as men like the notion or fantasy of being in control when they pick a woman for a position. A woman who appeals to their sexual desires has much more of a chance than one which does not. Men are like children, they like the fantasy of playing the knights in shining armour to a steretypical beauty in distress.

Men generally don't like the notion of a middle aged woman running their affairs or their country.
Although Susan Boyle is a singer and not a politician, society needs women like her, because she represents most women's needs, to be appreciated not for her glamorous, fabricated barbie doll size zero looks, but because she is more like the way most women are.

NORMAL.

Simply wonderful. Makes me wonder how much terrific talent we've been deprived of over the years by the relentless promotion of marginally talented buxom blondes whose forgettable, mechanically- enhanced voices have driven me away from "pop radio". I actually think Ms. Boyle's vibrato was controlled and very good- and this from a person who usually finds it offputting. I will be interested to see how she will fare with non-show tunes. I concur with Gemma's points about the single life. It seems clear to me that Ms. Boyle has charm, poise, and social skills and I would expect a fair amount of friends. Nothing lonely about the backstory in reality, I suspect. She knows she's good without being thoroughly conceited.

For me, she reminded me of the singer Meat Loaf: has the ability to scare young children, but has a beautiful voice.

I will have to look for a CD of her in the future.

I think Ted and Hannah, you are both correct. I also think Mark1334 was correct. All three of you are correct. Yes, there still is discrimination in certain areas against women but, compared to the discrimination that went on when I was younger, today's 'discrimination' is nothing --- believe me, ladies, you are very lucky now and forgive me for saying it, but today's young women, do not really know what discrimination is. Men today such as Mark and Ted are much more enlightened than the men who were bosses and managers, boyfriends and husbands when I was younger in fact may I say Gentlemen, your kind are almost angelic by comparison. There are still the other ignorant ones around but, the majority of men these days are much more enlightened. Here, I have to say, that in certain areas, MEN are the one's discriminated against and it is women who get the opportunities. Sadly however, there is a very strong tendency in society to judge humans by the way they look(and how old they are) --- not only in talent contests, but also in job applications and promotional opportunities/chances within careers. It is simply a sad fact of life --- our abilities both mental and physical, our talents and position within the status-quo are judged on the way we look, men, women, children and adults alike. We are judged on the way we speak, how we sound and how we dress. Sadly, it is human nature -- I am not sure that, unless we all become computerised robots that it is something that will ever be eradicated. Susan Boyle did look dowdy and given her background, that is understandable, but that should not be part of the judgement of her talent --- her deportment and diction was perfect and given a few months with the proper grooming including a more appopriate hairstyle and clothes, she will not only sound magnificent, but also look stunning as well. George Bernard Shaw's "Pigmalion" was written almost 100 years ago (it may be a full 100 years, I am not sure) and it says it all, by the 1950/60's both Julie Andrews and Audrey Hepburn had made stunning Eliza Doolittles on stage and film in 'My Fair Lady" with the same message (there was an earlier version made in the 1930's with a very young Rex Harrison but the name of the leading actress escapes me right now)---- have times changed? Only on the surface. Scrape that away and I think you will find that Hannah, Ted and Mark1334 are all, in their own ways, absolutely correct.

Hannah, sorry, I'm not dead wrong about the looks thing. And I never used the word "equally", although it could just as well be implied. Watch what you say when you put words in other people's mouths.

Men and women are judged on their looks throughout their entire lives. That's not something Hollywood invented.

And you yourself bring out the word "victimize" again. A little hyperbole, there. Who is victimizing women? Men? How about other women? That audience was full of judgmental women as well as judgmental men.

Burton,
People that have a negative comment for the good thing around us, like this talented lady, are the ones that are raising the bullies in this society.

I do sing and I think she is awesome.

She can easily be part of the Celtic Women, hopefully you know who are them.

Okay, last comment out of me ~

Does it EVER occur to people that "looks" are all based on luck? It's a roll of the genetic dice.

It's our SOULS that count...and only YOU can decide how beautiful your soul will or will not be...that's what truly shines.

Well Susan, not only do you have a stupendous voice with a clarity of speech that I have not heard since Julie Andrews sang in "The Sound of Music", you have also given me a wonderful morning reading people's comments. I enjoyed Hannah's comments as much as the responses from Mark1334---Both of you were indirectly correct! Kim managed to get everything in perspective and SteveNYC was, to my mind, one of the most knowledgeable, but the one thing that seems to have troubled (is that the word?) most of you is Susan's backstory. Would someone out there please tell me WHY, if a person lives alone with or without companion animals (usually a cat for very good reasons), that they are considered lonely? Or sad? etc. Especially if the person happens to be a woman. This fact has always amused me. This is one aspect of discrimination that still exists --- and believe me, it IS discrimination. Consider how many places a woman cannot go,how many thngs she cannot do without a male accompanying her, how many parties she is not invited to on her own -- are we really such a threat to every married lady's hubby? Even restaurants place single people at a table in a little dark corner that no-one else wants. Society by its attitude tells every single woman living by herself, that there is something wrong with her -- especially once she is out of her 20's or 30's and enters mid-40's. Even Government budgets repeatedly have nothing in them for the single person but squillions for 'families'! Single people really dooo pay taxes and get no benefit from the money spent. Now why does this attitude or train of thought persist? Would someone tell me, especially the commentors above who have mentioned repeatedly Susan's backstory of being single and living alone. Does it bother you? Does it make you folk uncomfortable? Are you jealous? Envious perhaps? What is it? I really would like to know the answer to the connundrum. Living alone is one of the more beautiful experiences in life. It is a life where one can think, read, listen to beautiful music, learn whatever, listen for God's voice, study whatever, paint, or sing all in beautiful peace, eat when and if, get up when and if, sleep till when and if, decorate one's home as one chooses, come and go whenever, leave the newspaper on a chair and know it will be there when you get back. In short, enjoy one's own company. Life does not begin and end with husbands, partners, sex, children, diapers, teething rings, school events, teenagers untidy bedrooms, piles of dirty socks and jeans to wash, ironing to do and University exams. There is another life out there --- it is called 'single' and those in it for the most part of their lives would think twice before changing but many cannot 'hack' and allow themselves to be railroaded into having a partner -- often with sad results. Just an opinion.

I actually thought she was a cute lady...very humble looking and full of life....and she BLEW me away.

At first, I thought it was a joke -- that someone had flipped a switch and played a pre-recorded session of a classically trained singer....when I realized it was really her - I was astounded. NOT because I didn't believe a great voice could come out of her...but that ANYONE could sound that amazing without it being pre-recorded!

Even more amazing was that she seemed SURPRISED by all the accolades.

How does a talent such as hers go unnoticed for 47 years?????????

I guess people are too friggin' blinded by Britney types and angry rappers with their pants dropped to their knees.....
