Pilot Lands Plane With One Wing

[YouTube - Link]
To the horror of spectators, this stunt plane begins to tailspin toward the ground when it loses its right wing in midair.  Amazingly, at the last second the pilot is able to land safely.

Notice how the missing wing is away from the camera when the plane is stopped. Other shots look like a model... I've seen this in much higher resolution. Consensus: Fake!

this made the rounds a year ago. why is it still being posted? It was proved to be a hoax - it was a marketing stunt (with an RC airplane) for a german company. This is really old news...

Hole In The Donut, notice for instance how the plane stops on a dime even though it has momentum enough to carry on for quite some distance? That's a telltale sign that it's extremely fake. It's like the plane has no mass whatsoever.

Also, notice with what relative ease the pilot is controlling the plane the split second before it lands.

When it lands you can see clearly that it's a 3d model, the compositing is not done convincingly, the lighting is off, the materials are off. Not to mention the out of focus parts doesn't look like camera blurryness, it looks like it was made in post.

I could probably dissect it further, but I think you get the idea. It may be convincing to people who have no idea what they're looking at or who can't see the obvious telltale signs of something not being real.

craig is correct....a viral marketing campaign that uses both large scale r/c models and CG. notice how the camera pans along with the plane as it lands? that would only be possible if the cameraman could run 50 mph AND hold a camera relatively steady. nice try.

Aside from the bad quality of the special effects, a real airplane, having lost its right wing, would spin in the opposite direction than the little plane in this video spins.

Wow! You guys are rough. I was just trying to find some interesting stuff to post. Next time, I'll check Snopes first - probably should have thought of that before. Guess I'm just not as much of an expert on physics and video production as the rest of you. But at least it generated an interesting discussion. Thanks for all your comments and explanations.
