Look at how little money the owner was making. He was living in extreme poverty, the likes of which nobody who's lucky enough to be visiting this site have probably ever known firsthand. Yeah, he was abusing a monkey. He was also trying to survive. Doesn't make it right, but it's not a black and white issue, and this is definitely very grey. Sad that the monkey was overworked.
