Pet AT-AT

Photographer Nick Drummond has a neat Flickr photoset of ATilla, his "pet" AT-AT. The best thing about having your very own Star Wars All Terrain Armored Transport Walker? It's easily house-trained, of course! Link - via Super Punch

The AT-AT was the toy I wanted as a kid that I didn't get. It was too pricey for a hunk of plastic, and I was just old enough that maybe those kinds of toys were not the right thing. I'm sure my parents didn't realize just how much watching those AT-ATs on screen had moved me. That scene changed the way people watched movies. It was BIG and REAL. Nothing had ever looked that believable.
Turns out I still long for that AT-AT. Seeing this one loved and played with really made my day. Very cool indeed.

Related/unrelated: Does anyone remember the original Jawa Sandcrawler? I remember playing with one of those with a friend when we were in primary school. I remember the disappointment upon finding that it was made of CARDBOARD, and the relief that I had no reason (any longer) to covet such. Is my memory correct: cardboard?
