I’m a bit annoyed at the past tense references to Iggy.

I can’t help but laugh at the cruise ads with Lust for Life “Here comes johnny yen again
With the liquor and drugs
And the flesh machine
Hes gonna do another strip tease.”
For whatever reason they don’t play that part of the lyrics.

I saw Iggy stage dive in 1968. I was sitting about 7 feet away. Wasn’t a dive actually, just a straight forward fall. David Bowie played golf with Iggy’s dad in order to persuade him that he’d be a good influence on his son.

I’d like to see a feature on the great Tennessee Ernie Ford.

My mom danced on stage with Iggy pop when she was like 15, she went to a catholic school in Windsor, Ont. and I guess they snuck him in as the music act at a dance without the nuns finding out. She said he jumped around her like a monkey.

I liked you mentioning the friendship between Iggy and David Bowie! I actually would LOVE to read some post about celebrity-friendships (like who is friend of who). Not the interview-friendship-blablas like “It’s been sooooo great to work with him… bla bla”. But something about who is “real” friend with who (just like that Iggy-Bowie stuff).

I would also like to read something about Tom Waits or Nick Cave.

He played someone coming off a transport ship. They asked him “Who are you?” and he replied “I’m the passenger.” How is that for factoid.

Iggy lives a few houses away from my dad on Miami Beach. He invited my not-hip-by-any-definition 70 year old dad in for a look at his house, including a tiny cramped studio where they had to crouch to get in.
