I loved Heath bars while growing up in Chicago in the 30's and 40's. My favorite Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavors are the Heath Bar crunch combination's. I can't think of any better tasting than Coffee Heath Bar Crunch!

When I was a kid, to have a candy bar was such a treat! I believe everytime I eat a chocolate bar, those memories of childhood come rushing back. With our down-turned economy, perhaps everyone should buy their favorite candy bar when they are filling sad, and lift their spirits:)

Of course, the Baby Ruth candy bar was intended to capitalize on the name of the baseball player, not some long-dead little girl. By 1921, Babe Ruth was the most famous player in America. He set a World Series pitching record and had set single-season homerun records in 1919 and 1920. (He set another in 1921).

The home of the O'Henry bar "Henry's Candy Store", is still located in Dexter, Kansas where my dad was born and raised. Twice a year when we take the kids to see the great grands we stop in for rock candy and chocolate covered marshmallows. The store has stayed in the Henry family though many of the ladies have changed their names by marriage. You can watch the candies being made from the storefront window. A must see if you find yourself in rural Kansas.

She probably ate her Oh Henry with a knife & fork. I also think the best name for a candy bar has to be Butterfinger; You just know that's bad for you, yet so very good.

Cool post! I'm not a huge fan of candy bars, though there are a few I really like. It's always neat to see where the names came from.

I wish they would bring back the "Reggie" candy bar from the 1970's

For those who don't recall it was named after Baseball great, Reggie Jackson.
