Thanks so much for mentioning Special Libraries! To the readers: don’t be deterred by the fact that the items are non-circulating– you’re more than welcome to visit and ask if you can look at a specific item! The Special Libraries themselves are often amazing places to visit. Go and support ‘em!

I go to the University of North Texas and the Music Library is huge, as is the Jazz Program. The special collections include a disco collection (gross), big band, Duke Ellington, of course jazz, and oodles of others.

I work at a Special Collections (UMKC) we have a huge collection of Popular American sheet music. The Marr sound archives (part of the special collections dept) has one of the largest collections of sounds recording.

“from around the world” is a bit of a stretch. admitedly one of them is in Austrailia. Is this “the world” in the same way as Americas domestic baseball league is the “world series”.

Wow, fore edged painting looks like something I would truely enjoy trying out. Perhaps with some uncared for books first, in case of mess ups.
