Caboodle Ranch

(YouTube link)

Craig Grant spent $100,000 to provide a good home on 30 acres for nearly 500 cats! Caboodle Ranch is 50 miles from Tallahassee, Florida, and features shelters fashioned after small town buildings, nature trails, and underground dens. Grant even retired from his job to devote his time to the cats. Link to story. Link to website. -via Metafilter

That is too cool for cat lovers like myself. Maybe he can charge admission to his ranch, make some t-shirts, etc. etc. Got to be a way to make money out of this, if Japan can have cat cafe's, maybe he can figure something out.

The cool thing about the Caboodle Ranch is that Craig has all the cats spayed and neutered. Not only is he helping these cats but he's making sure there won't be a population explosion and feral cats running lose. I love the fact that he's being responsible and loving his cats as well.

Miss Cellania, I just visited the website and they actually have pretty cool stuff like shoes. It's interesting that Craig, the founder of the ranch, does not have internet access and doesn't really read the guestbook that much. Someone should publicize this in Japan, since they seem to be cat crazy over there, could be a good source of tourist income.

just a nitpicky floridian thing... the caboodle ranch is actually closer to jacksonville, not tallahassee. it's all the way across the state from tallahassee.

i want to go there, though!

Very nice to hear that all of the cats are fixed and it looks like all of them are very well loved and cared for. Love that one that's trying to get his attention by pawing his face lol.

Obviously the guy has money. Most people with a lot of money do stupid things with it, like buy paintings.

I'm very happy with this guy. Like cats or not, he's saving a lot of these animals from much worse fates they'd probably get in a kennel. He's almost like a modern St. Francis.

I volunteer at the ranch and have just spent an entire week helping out and doing chores and most of all being loved up by the sweetest felines! I hope everyone checks out Craigs website and the FAQ's page. Craig does NOT have "allot of money". The ranch is run on donations from generous people who care sincerely about cats. Each and every dollar is for them. If every person that watched his videos, or read the articles donated just 5.oo right now to PayPal it would make all the difference int he world. 5.00 can feed one cat for 2 days, it counts. Caboodle Ranch is a professionally run ranch and Craig has spent the last five years perfecting his system. The cats are healthy, playful and happy, and safe. What more can you hope for.....

This is truly a utopia for cats. It would be interesting to study the cats there. They're similar to feral cats living outdoors in large numbers but in a space managed by caregivers. I assume the property is fenced? Are there other cat colonies like this? When in Florida, I would love to visit. Very best regards.

The place I think you are looking for is in Madison County. Don't know where but if you call the Sheriff's Office 974-4001 ext.2 they have a investigator who might be able to tell you were it is.

The reason you can't find the exact address is because Craig requires an appointment for ALL visitors. The ranch is also his private property/home. He can't have people showing up at all hours without notice. This way he can greet you and show you around when he is able. It is a working ranch, and there are things he has to take care of everyday that cannot be interrupted. If you would like to have alittle tour please email me at kastlekats@yahoo.com and I will arrange it for you thru Craig. Thanks so much for wanting to come to the ranch!

Craig you are doing and awesome job. Wow so many wonderful cats . I am sure their unconditional love is so contagious. Cats are like chips you cant only have one. That is so true.

You should educate school children with a field trip and build a shelter so they can watch these wondeful felines have so much fun.

Thanks again for just being an awesome caring human who appreciates Gods creatures.

I thank what he is doing is great.I would love to visit there sometime.I have four cats of my own and a
dog. They have all been fixed. We got them when they were
babies. They are all very special. And have their own cute ways of sleeping and such. Our Rottweiler loves all of them. And if they fight for any reason she runs to stop them. Some countrys eat cats.Thats why they love them.Just like some eat dogs as well.
I thank what Craig is doing is a wonderful thing. And it is his money. So he should be able to do what he wants with it.That is for people who thanks he is doing a stupid thing with his money. After all people have Zoos. So whats the difference? None!So stop being jerks. It will get you know where in this life.
Hope to hear from Craig someday. Thanks for the tour.Pat.
