Loved this stuff...mom used to make every time it got cold...

you know what else is good? Get one of those soft peppermint sticks, that are about 5 inches long and about 1/2 inch wide. Then cut a lemon in half and poke the peppermint stick in the flesh. You suck on the peppermint until it turns into a straw and the lemon juice comes through..It's really good.

Someone in my neighborhood has an outdoor thermometer from Dr. Pepper that cleverly advertises the beverage in both cold and hot formats. It was probably made sometime in the 1990's, so I wonder when people forgot about hot Dr. Pepper?

As a child, whenever we travelled and I got car sick (which was actually just about every time we travelled), my dad would pull over to a gas station and buy me a warm (not refrigerated) Dr P. Which, of course, made me sick and I would throw up.
After a while I'd:
A. Stop telling Dad I was sick.
B. Get sick at the very mention of Dr Pepper. Even today, 40 years later.
Sorry, gotta go...

When drinking the hot DP over the Christmas holiday, be sure to dunk you candy cane into it. Adds a nice mint taste to the beverage.

I have a copy of Life magazine from the week that JFK was shot (the funeral is the cover story), and one of the ads is all about drinking Dr. Pepper hot.

When I was little we used to have hot Dr. Pepper after sledding. (in the 80s) The adults would add rum to theirs. Now every winter I have to have just one hot Dr. Pepper and rum for old times sake:)

There's a small coffee shop in my town that always has Hot Dr. Pepper in the winter. I have yet to try it but I'm curious.

This was big when I was at college in the late 80's (probably because I went to a Mormon school where regular tea was frowned upon). It needs lots of lemon, and really isn't all that good.

My mom tells me that her sisters drank hot Dr. Pepper all the time back in the day. I've always been a little curious to try it. I would imagine heating might bring out that spicy taste to it.

I was in the press box during the 1964 Rose Bowl Game. Dr. Pepper had set up a table of coffee urns filled with hot Dr. Pepper for everyone to try. I was one of the few brave enough. It was great! I have prepared it this way off and on during cold weather ever since. Try it, you'll like it.
