Steampunk Wedding Cake

I adore this steampunk wedding cake, it’s so classy, yet it looks so delicious. I’d love to see the outfits worn at a wedding with a cake like this too.

Looks pretty, but not appetizing! Imagine all of the marzipan.

Man, this is so wrong! I usually love steampunkery but copper cogs and cake don't mix.
Signing off for the rest of the week with a gross metallic aftertaste.

The only memo I saw regarding steampunk was titled "RE: Steampunk- Not cool at all". That's all I needed to read.

That is unusual and pretty, but...cakes don't generally have moving parts, therefore don't need to be steampunked...ow, my brain hurts now.

Looks nifty, but not delicious. But isn't most wedding cake inedible, anyways?

guess you didnt get the memo that weddings now reflect the couple, themes can be anything you like, and cakes can be personal and EDIBLE. how RUDE are you to disrespect someone else's work!

this is an exceptional piece of craftsmanship AND it's probably much more delectable than all of your "standard" white wedding cake constructs!

ps: I don't see one copper cog - it looks to me like the metalicized parts are formed of fondant (a type of sugar paste), painted with edible gold.

jx is totally right. Have you not seen the 234986239 cake shows on tv nowadays. There's so many different things you can use to make a cake look however you want. Marzipan (though not the tastiest of ingrediants), model chocolate and fondant to name a few.

The wedding cake is, as JX said, a reflection of the couple and the theme of the wedding, whatever it may be. I think this is a beautiful cake and was well made. I'm guessing the brown is supposed to look like wood grain (based off an episode of Cake Boss i watched yesterday when they made a roulette table). This cake looks awesome and I'd eat it.

btw moving parts on cakes isn't so uncommon. Ace of Cakes and Cake Boss have both made cakes that move...and it looks awesome.
