Worst Song Ever

By Queuebot in Art on Feb 10, 2009 at 9:49 pm

‘Scientists’ have developed the worst song ever based on an online poll conducted in the 90′s … I’m listening to it now and I’m about to cry, It’s musically constructed well but contains alot of things that make music bad.

Amazingly, this “most unwanted music” contains little dissonance — that would have been too easy. For the most part, they seem to have tried to assemble these elements in a listenable way.

Oh my God..shoot me now. I loved it. I listened to it all the f**** way through.

I’m definitely adding this to the “party mix” playlist on my MP3 player.

I appreciate what they’re trying to do here… but the worst song in the history of humanity is ‘We Built This City’ by Starship. It’s a fact.

I found my new favorite song. Opera rap is a totally underexploited genre.

might be confusing this with wired’s listening post, but I’m pretty sure this has already been posted on neatorama some time ago.

I must agree strongly with atanquay. “We Built This City” is by far the worst noise to ever be massively broadcast across the ears of humanity. For a variety of reasons.

The song somehow reminded me of a destilled Eurovision song contest.

Silly Neatorama…Nickleback already pulled off most unwanted music status years ago

And regarding this song, “The Sun is hot and dry, gonna roast me a cow” is the best thing I’ve heard today.

“Makes me die inside” LMAO The song that kills me is Sister Christian. I have Worst Song Ever playing right now, and while I’m partly tuning it out, I think I am going to have to go kick the dog when it’s over. Noooonsense…

Btw, f*ck people who hate bagpipe, it rocks.

The thing about this song, is that it’s too broken up to be considered one song. At least to my ears. It’s just a bunch of annoying segments.

I agree with you, ak! Eff those bagpipe haters!!

Any Rap Song or Emo Song can be the Worst Song Ever without even that intention.

Actually, the worst song ever is “Life is a Highway” by Tom Cochrane. To make things worse, due to Canadian Content laws and the general lack of taste of the Canadian public I have had to hear this song almost every single day since its release in the early 90′s.
If I ever meet Tom Cochrane I am going to kick him the nuts sooooo hard…

    @ atanquay & johnnycat

i’m gonna go ahead and cast my vote for Starship’s horrendous noise ‘We Built This City’ too. i swear, i remember hearing that for the first time and just thinking…why? dear goodness, why? that song must die…for murder if nothing else – it killed Jefferson Starship.

could have done without the badpipes but the rest is primo sit-in-your-cube-and-vegetate your way to Nirvana time. It made 21 minutes of work today pass much easier. And the people walking by with the WTF looks was priceless.

The irony of it all is that it sounds like lots of bands that clueless hipsters extoll such as Mars Volta, Fantomas and Animal Collective.

OK, it’s too bad science says I have to hate that song, because I actually prefer it to what’s on mainstream radio and music television. That kicks Nickelback’s ass any day of the week.

I don’t find it annoying at all…. when it ended I missed it, and played it again! It’s fun and whimsical; there’s all kinds of very, very similar bubbly, fun, crazy music on Greasy Kid Stuff on WFMU.

Everybody knows that the worst song ever is Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus. No matter how painful it is, you can admit that there is a song worse then the 80′s train wreck We Built This City.

This song isn’t that bad when compared to Friend of the Devil. or the B side of a hanson album
