White Jigsaw

Posted by Stacy in Flash Games on January 30, 2009 at 6:48 pm

This starts out easy, but every time you successfully complete one of the all-white puzzles, you get another one with more pieces. I can’t seem to stop playing… I want to know how large the final puzzle gets! If anyone gets there, let me know.

You could do it in real life if you get The Beatles White Album puzzle: http://www.amazon.com/USAopoly-Beatles-White-Album-Puzzle/dp/B00168PIL Q

It goes at least as high as 12x9. It's easier than a real-life white puzzle made out of cardboard would be, because the you can't rotate the pieces.

@Kateri, I actually have the White Album puzzle! I have yet to open it, though.

It's weird that I find this easier than puzzles with a picture isn't it?

Also: I want the Beatles White Album puzzle...

I got to 14x10, but by that point you need a system, and then it gets a little boring.

14x10 took me 43 minutes to complete, so I probably won't do 15x11.

I like the puzzle interface at:
    http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/your-shot/jigsaw-puzzles
You can optionally rotate the pieces and set the number of pieces to make it harder.

Why are we discriminating against non-white puzzle pieces?

At some point in the past, I had a puzzle called Spilt Milk. It was 350 pieces and all white and the final puzzle looked like a puddle of milk. No straight edges, anywhere. The puzzle came in a milk carton shaped box. It took me some time but I finally finished it. I have to wonder how that got lost in some move.

I can't look at the pieces anymore; I'm too dizzy. I got as high as 16x12.

Apparently there are people who have the time, perseverance and insane fortitude to get up to 33x24 and are still going. Wow!

I really like this game. It didn't take long to get a system down to organize the pieces after the edges are done. I am up to 13x9 and not planning on stopping...

Is there any way to save your game so you don't have to replay when you go back?

I got up to 16x12, but my algorithm is about O(n^2). I wish I could use a computer to solve these, because there's an obvious O(n lg(n)) solution if I had some automation.

I had a Dalmation puzzle that was printed on both sides. I finally gave it away as a white elephant at christmas. I think that is how I got it.
