First off the air in any bag of crispy food protects it from breakage during shipping.

More importantly I can guarantee you that those test boxes will end up packing a few ounces less than their original tall brothers (“That was in the testing phase”) yet cost up to 12% more. It’s the American way.

These boxes use a lot less cardboard and so produce less waste. So i’m all for ‘em.

Personally, I feel i’d get the same number of boxes in my cabinets no matter the shape.

PS: anyone else notice that this would make finding the toy at the bottom of the box a lot easier? lol

Just sell it in bags. We toss the box as soon as it’s home, anyway. Packaging is a huge waste of resources.

@glassmusic I’m sure the ounces will stay the same. You do know how to check for ounces right? Probably the best way to tell if you’re getting the most for your money.

This is a good idea, big cheerio boxes don’t fit in our pantry selves and could use resizing. However, we normally don’t keep cereal in the box as sugar ants like to come in and raid any open cereal boxes, so we keep cereal in plastic containers with sealed spouts.

We just toss the box (into the recycle hopper) and chip-clip the bag… really, you’d have a problem identifying your cereal? Loses the crappy advert stuff on the box as well… less corporatism in the cupboard.

Just take the bag out of the box and throw the box away. Close the bag wiith a clip. That’s the best way to save space.

Really bad move. Product identification goes out the window, pouring will suck (as some have mentioned). My shelves also accomodate the old boxes perfectly because the shape is what it is.
–They could just do like the Nature’s Path brand and reduce their box size by 10%, but maintain the tried and true shape. NP brand also doesn’t use high fructose corn syrup. A different matter altogether. Is Kellogg’s going to do something about the dangerous HFCS that contains Mercury?

Stop boxing the bag all together so that we can see how much we get. In other words my cabinet (which is a box with a door) likes bags of food fine. Less cost to manufacture and ship, less trash and more honest.

My cabinet is set up for tall boxes. Now these will be fatter and I won’t be able to put as many in a row. Lose for me.

where i am there is deep snow a few times a year (at least), all my life the shovels available were always improving (not that fast when I think back), but of late (last five years?), there is this ‘plow/scoop’-like thing that is phenomenally more efficient and way less strain on the body. every time I use it I actually smile with recognition of how quickly and painlessly its going (i’ve been shoveling snow for years)
I am always astounded it took us this long to figure this out. the humans are not as smart as they think they are…
any other things that could be re-thought?

I’m sure it’s just another way to shrink ray the product in a way that consumers won’t notice.
